Hi

The Key No. (Normally 3 Figures) is stamped on the square shank, and most locksmiths can cut keys from this code).

I worked for a Co, which had a Van as the workshop hack, and the same key fitted the Frt Door lock, ignition and the Rear door.

Hi I would not get too emotional about coil polarity, your car will still run even if the coil is wired incorrectly. A friend of mine has had an MGTD for over 35 years and it has always been a good starter and run very well. I rewired the car when he got it, and nothing has been changed since. Last ...

Hi Coil polarity is pretty important. When it's incorrect, as much as 40% higher voltage is required to fire the sparkplug, according to an article I read 40 years ago from Champion Sparplugs. You can check the polarity with a coil tester or a high tension Voltmeter, but a simple way is to disconnec...

Hi Here in NZ most folk with Minors are running 165x14 on std rims because 145x14 or 155x14 are VERY hard to get and VERY expensive . They do look a little "Podgey" but beggars can't be too choosy. Steering is a little heavier at low speeds but they seem to work out OK. It certainly reduce...

Hi Although Kiwi's moan about the weather, we don't really have that many roads that are affected by ice. However, a couple of major routes have high sections that do get closed by snow for a few hours at times in the depths of winter. If these are not cleared quickly ice appears. Usually grit is sp...

shell optimax petrol

Hi, It's been very interesting to read the problems and confusion with your petrol now that the lead content has reduced or dissappeared. Here in New Zealand we have had to live with unleaded for some years now, and it does not seem to be an issue anymore, except for a few who have very high compres...

If MOWOG originated with the purchase of Wolseley by Morris in 1926, then it certainly predates both the purchase of Riley by Nuffield in (I think) 1938, and the BMC merger in 1952. I seem to recall working on a flatnose Cowley (can't remember what model year it was) but it had some cast components ...

The short code for Morris Motors was "voiturette" according to 1935 parts lists. However for Nuffield Exports the short code was "morex" according to 1952 parts lists.

Hi
An anti theft technique that is quick to apply, but not obvious, is to unscrew the damper cover on the SU carb and slip a small piece of tube around the damper rod to stop the piston from rising. The engine will start but won't run. Cunning & effective.

Hi, Does anybody remember this Hilarious little programme that screened quite a few years ago? It featured Eric Sykes, Arthur Lowe, Jimmy Edwards, a wooden plank and a MORRIS MINOR! I've been trying to track down a Video copy for some time with no success. Recently I came across a Video with the sam...

Hi, Thank you very much - I had overlooked the obvious (again)! I'm pleased to see that both versions are available. It's a pity that perhaps the Arthur Lowe version is only available in NTSC but although NZ uses PAL, VCR's that handle both PAL & NTSC have been available here for some years so I...
