Re: Newbie Needs Minor Assistance

Virtually EVERY part is available in UK for Minors, except sadly a full new bodyshell. Check out Bull Motif http://www.morrisminorspares.net/shop.php who will send to USA I believe. Many mechanical parts are common to the MG Midget/AH Sprite. At $3000 it would need to be a very good one - not a wrec...

Re: heated screen

I suggest you don't ever use both together or you will flatten the battery, especially as you are likely to have lights/wipers/heater running at the same time.

Don't understand either - are the lights working? Just shine them on a garage door and adjust that way, Don't waste time/money paying someone to do simple things like this.

And cleaning or renewing the ignition points and the fuel pump points. We can't see the 'secret' message from Mick( why so secret ? Re: How long should a compressor last?

If you are a 'workplace' you will be subject to the Pressure Systems Safety Regs, and so your air system and the receiver should have a full inspection every two years, and a 'visual' every year by your Insurance Inspector. You must also have the test certificate for the receiver in your possession....

Re: mystery running problem! 3 AA calls in 3 days!

There would still be plenty air getting in - only perhaps slight restriction at full blast. The problem has been caused by the AA. Don't let them near your car again.

Re: Engine conversion to unleaded

Ahh - so then the head will expand more than the steel valve stem, and the running clearance will increase as the engine heats up. On the A series both head and valve and push-rod will of course expand, but the exhaust valve gets very much hotter than the head and rod and will expand more, closing t...

Re: Its time for a recon gearbox

I spoke with gearbox guru on miniforum - he is very well respected supplier of fully repaired Mini gearboxes, and he is certainly interested in considering Minor boxes, although slightly unsure of the spares position. Contact him yourself at http://www.guess-works.com/

Welcome to the forum. I would be careful of that tachometer(?) - it will take your knee-cap off in an accident. Do you really need to count the revs?????

Re: Engine conversion to unleaded

Yes of course Alec - 'leaded'. Now corrected. The unleaded fuel we have now burns hotter, so exhaust valves are hotter and expand more with risk of closing the gap. It also gives a little more safety margin to ensure the gap doesn't close up completely. That gap of 2 or 4 thou sounds like a mis-prin...

It's all in the workshop manual. Just put the old points back exactly as you found them meantime until you have read up and understood what's involved.
