Re: Minor Matters May/June 2021

My July/August edition hasn't arrived yet. Should I be worried?

Re: Electronic ignition worthwhile?

Richard, If the car is running fine then don't mess with it. However, it is worth keeping a few spares in the car just in case (e.g. points and condensor and possibly a spare fuel pump), but make sure you buy decent parts from the likes of Distributor Doctor (http://www.distributordoctor.com/) as th...

Welcome to the Forum. Your car certainly looks a little different to the norm so I hope you are going to tell us all about it in time. Meanwhile enjoy driving her.

Re: What would you do?

I think that backing up was the expedient thing to do. Despite being in the right, and fun though it would have been to confront them, I suspect that after a lengthy stay in hospital wondering where you were going to get your car repaired you might have regretted your decision.

I have a 52 plate MX5 and a Morris Minor van so I can choose which one to drive.

Re: MX5 Minor on Ebay

As the owner of a 2001 1.8 Mazda MX5 and a Morris Minor we think this is brilliant. It looks a very neat job. If it was registered we would probably be on our way to Lytham by now.

Re: Electronic Ignition

I use the Pertronix electronic ignition, supplied by Distributor Doctor. It is a relatively easy job to install and also to revert to points if you wished.

I got the SQL error at about 10pm last night. I have a screen dump but like Les it won't let me attach it - "The image file you tried to attach is invalid".

I also recommend you use the distributor doctors points, rotor arm and condenser.
And if you do decide to go electronic then The Distributor Doctor is still your man. Why don't you ring him and get his opinion on points and condenser vs electronic?

Re: Anti Rust Products

I have used an Ebac 2850e in the garage for several years now. It certainly kept the condensation at bay and even if I put one of the cars away wet it would dry them within a few hours. The only issue is that, being a compressor unit, the condenser freezes up if it gets to about 3 deg.C, which it of...

So... is that attached picture the traveller or the MX-5? :D

After all, it wouldn't be the first mx-5 based traveller:

LOL. I hadn't seen that before. Mind you if the MX5 had looked like that I would have been more forgiving.

Re: Dealer or private purchase?

We bought our Morris Traveller privately, something neither of us had ever done before, but we hadn't seen anything else that matched the excellent condition of this one. We were somewhat nervous given we had little idea what we should be looking for and the sum of money involved although it turned ...
