Re: Maisey, 2 door 1960 Morris Minor 1000 (871XUU)

Looking at the new Cross members that are available it looks like someone previously has cut the ends off mine where the cross member should extend under the sill and where the jacking point welds to.!!!!

Re: Maisey, 2 door 1960 Morris Minor 1000 (871XUU)

Hello all, Work still commencing on the Morris Minor. There was nothing left and a bit of a make shift jacking point on the offside of the car. It was definitely to hard to tell what was original to the car. I've photographed the near side jacking point and it seems to be attached or sat on a box to...

Morris 8 1935 engine paint code

Hello all Can any one help with the correct engine paint type, colour and code for a 1935 Morris 8 . I have so far discovered originally the engine was painted black but replacement or reconditioned engines were identified by being painted green. I have a replacement engine as it has a brass plaque ...

Re: Quarter floor fitment (especially rear)

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that it's going to be impossible to get a flush floor fit with the original floor edge. unless I cut the new floor quarter to get a butt joint fit. But that means joggling the heel board high back corner edge too. The heel board high back drops straight onto the o...

Quarter floor fitment (especially rear)

Hi all. Just after a bit of advice on quarter panel floor fitment. The front quarter floor edge has a joggle on the sill side edge to allow the floor to be simply dropped in against the inner sill step and on top of the chassis leg. The rear quarter floor then is shaped to the transmission tunnel sh...

Re: Maisey, 2 door 1960 Morris Minor 1000 (871XUU)

Overall shot of the car. Hope I haven't bored you much with all the photos. Its nice to see some nice clean sharp new metal edges and not the rusty edge panels peppered with holes.

Thanks for reading.
Dave.

Re: Maisey, 2 door 1960 Morris Minor 1000 (871XUU)

Phew, I think that's about everything over the last few weeks. So hopefully this wknd should see the floors final fit and welding in along with the remaining sill sections for the right hand side.

Re: Maisey, 2 door 1960 Morris Minor 1000 (871XUU)

Now we move onto the floors being offered in. These too have to be fitted at the same time if going to do full sill replacement.

Re: Maisey, 2 door 1960 Morris Minor 1000 (871XUU)

New sill boxing plate being offered up and clamped into position against the inner sill step. Thankfully this inner sill step seems to be the only solid bit on the car floor wise!

Re: Maisey, 2 door 1960 Morris Minor 1000 (871XUU)

Lots of progress over the last several weeks. I cant weld in the inner front wing till the sill is on as parts of the sill and the floor under sill are welded behind the inner wing. So all these panels have now been ordered and ready here now to be fitted including front and rear quarter floor secti...

Re: Maisey, 2 door 1960 Morris Minor 1000 (871XUU)

I've tried to repair this panel after removing the inner wing. After cleaning it up though there were many pin holes that I kept chasing and chasing with the welder. Enough was enough and putting in a new piece was the only answer and actually took less time than messing around trying to plug up hol...

Re: Maisey, 2 door 1960 Morris Minor 1000 (871XUU)

Photos of the A post and hinge pillar and inner wing before repair. Although I have cut away the majority of the inner wing to reveal the kidney shaped panel behind it. This was stubborn as the kidney shaped panel was spot welded to the inner wing from inside the car.
