Pick up part

Good evening all, I do hope everyone is well and keeping safe. Can anyone let me know what these are used for, they look as if they cover the hoop hole to me. Cannot find any reference to them or picks to show them fitted. However my wife informs me that I cannot even find my own socks when they are...

Re: Austin Pick up 1972

Hi, sorry to say the original engine is long gone and the number is not recorded on the log book, where would I find the cab number? Looks as if the chassis plate from the door card is also gone, however I do have several boxes of stuff to sift through. If it turns up will be happy to provide detail...

Re: Austin Pick up 1972

That does help, thank you. The pick up was bought by Woodside Garage in Usk, Monmouthshire.

Re: Austin Pick up 1972

Hi POMMReg, thank you for the response, what did you mean by weights more important? Only reference I can find to on the log book is 746.1 KG unladen. Also not sure what is meant by Pea green chassis plate.
Regards, john.

Re: Austin Pick up 1972

Hi Les, thank you for the encouragement. It is registered as a pick up and I know of the two previous owners, the first bought it new as a pick up so wondering if there were some oddities going on with chassis numbers towards the end of production. It is a K reg.

Austin Pick up 1972

Hi all, I recently purchased a 1972 Austin pick up from a friend of mine, its only taken 25 years plus to talk him into letting it go so delighted to have it and looking forward to restoring it. Looking for any information on production dates and to clear up some details with chassis number, the inf...

Re: marina/ital

Hi Phil, Thank you for your replies, it does have TAM2011 stamped into the centre of the pulley. It could also well be 24.4 mm as just using a steel rule. Will have a another go after using wet and dry.

Re: marina/ital

Hi, I believe the crank pulley/damper is off a Mini 1275 motor so perhaps that's the issue. Measured crank nose and pulley centre, both are 25mm, will not slide on even with a thump with a rubber mallet. Crank is stamped 12G1303A and H38AXA7.

Re: marina/ital

Sorry to bore you all to death with this but I recently discovered that a standard 1275 crank pulley will not fit on this engine. Too small.

Re: marina/ital

Thank you for all the replies, so the pistons I have are identical to the ones philthehill posted, does anyone know where I can purchase a set of standard rings from or the part number even.
Regards,
John.

Re: marina/ital

Mine is also ribbed and standard, the rocker cover has an A+ sticker on it. Odd that the Ital workshop manual has 3 rings while the marina one has 4. Will keep looking for the rings but may need to purchase new pistons as you have. Thank you for the reply.

Re: marina/ital

Hi Les,
Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have exactly the same situation, thought I had an Ital engine to rebuild but it also has 3 rings plus the oil ring. Need to purchase new rings but not quite sure what I need or where to get them.

Re: South Wales Branch Annoucment

Mr Crew has been the font of all knowledge for me regarding Morris Minors for the last 35 years, he rewired WDW 20 years ago for me and was always available for advice or spares at the drop of a hat. I am very confident that the big gate to MM heaven will be wide open for him and his bomb disposal v...

Re: Lighting assistance please

Had a look behind the clock but nothing obvious. I changed the clock some time ago as the original one was about 10 MPH out due to the 3.7 diff, I was not able to use the fixing bolts on the new one so it was just held in by the retaining ring. Fitted an additional earth wire from clock housing to b...

Lighting assistance please

I have recently noted some odd things happening when I put the lights on (side, dipped and full beam). All is well when first switched on but as I pull off the main beam light on the clock lights up and the petrol gauge drops to empty, this does not happen if stationary when revving the engine. Any ...

Re: Which year KA seats are best for Morris minors

Depends on what colour you want, if you want leather ones the KA sport have blue middle (as per pics), KA luxury are all black, if you want non leather the world is your lobster. KA MK1 fit, not sure about the new model. The KA legs can be used and a frame is not needed, there is info on here about ...
