Before I get stuck in... whats the best way to spread the torsion bar from the chassis to enable the retaining bolts to be removed?

Re: Disc brakes - top hat seal

Yes it had glue on it...

Thinners disolved the glue, and made the rubber brittle...

Now out in about 3000 pieces!

Re: Disc brakes - top hat seal

So can anyone advise please? I have bought a brand new MC (reportedly a Lockheed one, it does has the AP logo) and the "valve washer" appears to be missing... ? I can't immediately see it being a problem but I though I had better ask. The "valve cup" appears to be a rubber bit glued in to the valve ...

Re: Disc brakes - top hat seal

Knowing my luck the curclip won't play and when indo eventually get it out, bits will shoot down the chassis leg out of reach! I think I will pull it out, its not that hard to do

Ahh pants.

Not an in situ job then

The MC is good, so maybe will put some new seal in it at the same time?

Disc brakes - top hat seal

In the next few weeks I will be doing a brake disc conversion.

I know this necessitates removing the top hat seal, but can anyone tell me where it is in the MC and how to get at it?

Sorry to bring this back up, I'm considering doing the same thing.

How much material actually needs to come off the hub?

Given that there is an ongoing consultation on this, and its still open that story is a bit premature!

Minor/Marina front hub oil seals

I'm going to be putting marina hubs on the front of my trav. The swivels have been machined out and marina stub axles pressed in - so it will use marina bearings. This presents a small issue with the grease seal... I can either try to find a hybrid seal, or make a tight fitting adaptor sleeve to inc...

Re: New MOT Rules?

My opinion is that and MOT exemption is a bad idea... However in the case of pre war vehicles, there is so little to test, and most owners know what their car should do better than any tester, that an exemption would be realistic. Afterall... how many pre war cars are driven daily compared with late...

This is an official public consultation BMC... where people can express their opinions on whether there should be exemptions or not....

Its not the same as has been floating around previously
