Not the most competant of mechanics, I have learnt myself as I've gone along having no knowledge at all when I got into moggies a couple of years ago - To being able to (slowly) work my way through a problem and fix it. Spent an hour getting the head off this eve, will spend however long it...

Just taken the head of my 1098 due to a blown head gasket. Thought I might as well check the head out whilst it's off. I might of been wrong but I could of sworn someone mentioned the way to test the valve seats is to turn the head upside down and pour petrol in each of the four recesses - whever le...

This evening i wandered if the pick up might be an easier fix (so I can get driving again, hate modern cars), so I ...

Re: Horrible misfire - where do i start?
replaced condenser and coil still the same, thats the enitre electrical system replaced piece by piece and tested in between replacements. The carb seems to be fine and given the below i don't think it's that. Dry Compression test gave the following results: 1: 170 psi 2: 165 psi 3: barely read 20ps...

Rollover jig/frame - How much space needed to roll a car?
Hi All Just a bought a hub mounted rollover frame, and I'm about to embark on having a garage put up. The mrs wants this to be as small as possible, so my question is, does anyone know if you can roll a moggy over in a garage that is 8 feet wide by 6.5 feet high (depth not an issue at 16 feet.) or w...

HIF44 on a 1098, wrong, right, or indifferent
Hi All, Just after some opinions here and to check i've not done a no no. The HIF38 carb i had on my 1098 was knackered, so whilst i'm building up motovation to refurb it, i found a hif44 in the shed, fitted it, and it seems to run lovely - and is giving me around 60 miles to 10 quids worth of fuel ...
