Re: Security devices

i also use a tracker in my minor but it is a purpose built unit which uses a pay as you go sim card which only spends money when you want to know where it is, i can also disable my car by sending a text message to it which will disable either the ignition or the fuel pump dependant on how you wire i...

Re: Window Frame Removal

its probably the threaded plates on the outer leg catching on the lock or the winder mechanism on the window maybe? it can be quite a struggle...i managed to get one frame out along with the window in the frame but the other had to come out with the window in the door. you may find you have to tilt ...

Re: Spoiler

Ive had the same problem....ive found that if you sand down the back edge of the sunvisor it becomes a better fit around the screen and the brackets should just about clamp onto the gutters with a slight bend to the fibre glass but dont tighten the bolts too much as you can crack the fibre glass and...

Re: speedo readings with a 3.9 diff??

As above satnavs are really accurate but using a truck is a good guide aswell...most trucks are restricted to 54mph so if you find one thats overtaking its almost a guarantee that they're on the limiter and as has been said, the trucks use tachographs which have to be calibrated/checked every 2 year...

Re: welders

from personal experience, gasless welders are only good for thicker gauge metal but so long you are careful not to burn through and have a good 40 grit flap disc on a grinder it should turn out ok. as for the polarity - gasless welders use a positive earth and negative torch, this is generally chang...

Re: 1966 2 door saloon (Bugsy)

thats quite a good idea, i think i may change the carb and rockers for now and i'll port the original head, put some hardened valve seats in and run it for a while then change the head or even just chuck a 1275cc in there in say 2/3 years.

cheers

Re: Should i...?

Well tim, As ive only recently got a minor i dont know it all but i know enough as to tell you that the minor is probably one of the easiest cars to get parts for whether its original or customised. There are many parts suppliers such as JLH MINORS, ESM, BULL MOTIF, CHARLES WARES etc. If you do deci...

Re: Will budget Project 1963 Minor 659 FBE

I must say that looks like you got a great buy, mine was twice the cost with probably 5x as much welding needed. Are you keeping it the same colour? or doing something exotic :D the total spend is really good idea and will be quite interesting to see what happens, don't forget labour costs  Goo...
