Re: What's this Engine?

I could guess it might be a sidevalve. But we will never know if we can’t see it :o :o

Re: Lockheed front wheel cylinders

I also can't comment why the cup spring are longer than the 1996 one, had to use the 2018 new shoe springs instead which are shorter. the piston is a 1996 one I had as spare with the cylinder.

Lockheed front wheel cylinders

Front brakes binding after 1hr on new Lockheed wheel cylinders, not the hole in master cylinder cause of problem but the spring cup length under the piston, only cure is stronger shoe springs.

Re: Engine heat shield/baffle plate

I fitted an aluminium heat shield between carb & inlet manifold to my lowlight and covered the petrol pipe to pump with heat reflective fire proof tape due to fuel evaporation which cured the problem. Interesting to note: series II minor 1000 had tie plates holes, extra air flow? MM's had no hol...

rotor arm clearance

I cut a cracked distributor cap in half to see the clearance gap the rotor arm has to the contact, any play in the shaft down to the cam or a loose fitting rotor arm can cause intermittent firing issues. The picture shows the gap on a fully restored distributor with an original lucas rotor arm.[fram...

Re: NWL 576

At the time the apprentices were given a task with the view to restore NWL 576. As to who had the Minor 1000 tie plates put in that,s the question, originally sidevalve tie plates had no holes. But then we think why did they put holes in Minor 1000 tie plates, for cost saving, or for extra air flow ...

Re: 1950 Saloon project

I see in the previous pictures the cylinder head is off....ask yourself why? Could this be due to a blown head gasket or a valve burnt out or broken rings only close inspection will reveal the reason  if you can turn the engine over on the starting handle inspect the bores at the top for a lip...

On your travels look for these special tools at autujumbles, nothing else will do.
When removing valves lookout for the spring collar which was a mod to make sure the spring seats correctly in the block. :-?[frame]Image[/frame]

I was told only the pre booked cars could be judged for a prize even though you had paid £5 on the day, counting the rally entries pre booked list only three series 11 were being judged.
