Re: Where can I buy a new bonnet rubber

Oooh - that stuff looks great and might be just what I was looking for myself (non-Minor related, leaking caravan).

Re: Where can I buy a new bonnet rubber

Yup it's visible now and I can confirm that's the bulkhead/bonnet rubber I linked to previously. :) Also now that we have a view of your winscreen, you require the Pre-Dec '66 front window rubber (the one that does not come with the chrome rubber strip) from my previous post, as you have the twin me...

Re: Where can I buy a new bonnet rubber

The photo is a little dark  I presume you mean the one that goes the width of the bulkhead in an arc that the bonnet rests on at the windscreen end of the front, in which case: https://www.morrisminorspares.com/body-inc-panels-trim-c21/bonnet-fittings-c22/rubber-seal-for-bulkhead-fits-under-bo...

Must be quite unusual to sign your cars (I presume) name onto a towbar, as an aside, you're quite lucky that came up, usually this is what we get:

Re: 1966 morris minor 1000 Oil Filter

Looks right, here's the one from ESM: https://www.morrisminorspares.com/engine-c14/ohv-engine-c16/oil-filter-element-paper-type-p830267 I'm presuming yours was sold as being suitable for the Minor/A-Series engine. Some people complain that changing this filter is messy but an oil change is messy any...

Re: 1966 morris minor 1000 Oil Filter

wing piping between wing and body is the wrong colour. or maybe not even there? (I wasn't sure if that's just empty space showing). It was sage green After 1962, the only green was Almond Green (Sage green was only from '56-'59). So it's likely originally Almond green with a porcelain green pinstri...

On a pc/mac you can drag and drop images directly into this text area to add them. You can also (including mobile) add them by scrolling further down to the Options/Attachment tabs. The attachments tab also allows you to attach files via the 'Add files' button. Attached files (whether through drag '...

Yes that's the right (20w/50) grade.
Also with 10L you have enough for both the gearbox and engine oil to be done :)

Re: 1966 morris minor 1000 Oil Filter

I would love to be able to find what the original colour was when it was 1st made but I wouldn’t no where to start The areas I'd suggest to check: Under the dashboard (above where the bonnet release handle is located) Under the rear seat base (probably the easiest to check since you can just lift i...

Re: Morris Minor Pickup 1965 not starting

Do Minor Pickups have interior lights, if so, does it work since that wouldn't require the ignition etc. and you'd know if there was any power getting anywhere at all. If there isn't any interior light, or it doesn't illuminate either then I would check all the fuses in case one or more of them has ...

Re: Manifold gasket issues

Now when I try and start the car it revs uncontrollably high I had this once, scared the life out of me, turned out I'd snagged the accelerator cable (wasn't even working on it but had still somehow caught it) so it was stuck in a partially pulled position - just needed to be unhooked from whatever...

but worth phoning to ask when expected. Sadly the answer is likely never as the sole surviving manufacturer (Watling Engineering) of towbars for the Minor closed down in 2020 (a real shame as their after sales support was excellent). Charles Ware tended to get a few in regularly for purchase (and t...

Re: Engine Copper Heater Pipe - Does this look normal?

It's had it I am afraid. It had a good run, it came with the car and the date on its' label is 2013 and I'd actually had it out of the car sometime last year (I think it was) to recharge. You'll need to replace the cooling system hoses I presume you mean the heater hose which for now I've cut the b...

Re: Engine Copper Heater Pipe - Does this look normal?

On the later 1098cc this had changed to the other side of the engine. I take it then there was an early 1098 and a later 1098 since my 1098 has the return pipe manifold side as well and my car is only a few months older than my Mothers. I did wonder whether the kink had somehow caused some form of ...

Re: Engine Copper Heater Pipe - Does this look normal?

So last night I spent some time going through image searches and YouTube videos, I can at least confirm that on some 948 engines the pipe did angle forwards towards the front of the car: https://potteries.mmoc.org.uk/Members_Cars/Cam/FMU826B/FMU826B_026.JPG https://potteries.mmoc.org.uk/Members_Cars...

What is this overflow? pipe for?

So working on my Mothers' car and I noticed this metal, hollow pipe feeding out of the engine near what I presume is an inspection panel and down to the ground on the exhaust manifold side of the 948 engine.

I just wondered what it's for?

Re: Filling @ BP

The implication I got was that anything open must be closed since they mentioned doors as well, though that's presumably to lessen the chance of people driving off, but it's not like they couldn't just open the closed doors and drive off anyway.

Re: Fuel smell

The boot needs a good airing before I can judge whether the fuel smell is cured. Coffee or Bircarbonate of Soda/Baking Soda in a tray is meant to help remove odour quicker. Funnily enough yesterday I re-discovered a bottle of Autoglym Odour Eliminator that I'd bought when I bought a much smoked in ...
