Re: Roof Rack Chroming

Wilko do a chrome paint in a spray can! I've never used it but the can cap looks just like chrome. Might be an alternative if the rack has a sound base to spary on to?
Good luck with sorting the problem.

Re: car tax heads up

I'm not so sure that tax on a sold vehicle is automatically returned... In fact I know it is NOT - having recently traded in a car with a couple of months tax on it - and not a penny has come back. Since it was only £30 a year to tax it - i didn't bother to claim - but nothing has come back 'automa...

Re: can't renew in members area

Thanks for your replies. I'm using the u/n & p/w from the latest March/April 2015 mag. Just tried again tonight and still no joy. I can get into the members area but when I click " Confirm your membership here " and enter the u/n & p/w it just takes me back to the messageboard 'men...

Re: Arm rests

Thanks Panky & CharlieMM. It's a two door. They definitely won't fit but the steam idea sounds good. We do have one of those penguin type gizmos and as you say what have I got to lose.
Thanks for the useful suggestion :D

Re: Arm rests

Hi Guys
My two rear door cards have been stored out of the car (not by me) for about 30 years and are a bit squashed but not completely flat. Any suggestions how I could "re-shape" them? Or do I just buy new?
Any advice welcome
Thanks

Re: Winter protection

Keep it warm and dry in a garage - and NEVER take it out when there is salt on the road..... Chrome - smear with vaseline.. Vaseline works fine but can stain clothing if you rub against it. In the November issue of Practical Classics there is an article on chrome protection and as well as vaseline ...

Re: Pickup restoration part three

Hi David As Bob says the gap should be 0.635mm. If you use two feelers (either 0.50+0.15 or 0.60+0.05) then that gives you 0.65mm which is slightly too big. This actually equates to 0.0256" which is less than a thou bigger. So a very gently tap as suggested should see it right Please double che...

You're right chesney, I didn't explain myself very well
I meant the rubber hose from a motor factor will be correct, a braided hose just has other benefits

Re: How safe are braided fuel pipes?

I work at a hydraulics distributor and we sell all manner of hose. Rayofleamington is quite correct, there are many types of rubber, resistant to different fluids. Motor factors will stock the correct hose for the correct application, speak to them for advice. The braiding (steel or fabric) enables ...

[quote="Neil MG"]I made a very simple spit so that I can get better access to the floors and you can see the temporary stiffeners I welded in the door apertures.

Mines not quite so bad but will need 'turning'
A simple spit sounds useful, any chance of some pics of it?
Thanks

Re: Panels in bare metal/zinc primer

Hi all
I'd be interested to know as well.
Hopefully going to start on my panels in a month or two but will probably be a year or so before i can get the whole car properly painted.
What can you recommend for protection during this time as my garage gets cold and damp over the winter
Thanks

The wings are in very good condition, so I think there's a (another) welding job to be done, but it will be worth it to get the look right.

Re: Questions

The reason I asked about the side lights Mike is because I have been offered some good condition metal front wings which are fitted with the orange/white light. Is it possible that the proper white light will fit in the same hole? (assuming I can find the correct lights) Thanks for your advice rayof...
