Re: No sparks

OK guys. did RAB test and no HT spark when points are opened. So next I will check whether there is current between coil and points when they are closed. RAB which is 'pigtail' lead? Rob I should have said I have and black and white from positive (which I presume is effectively 'SW' terminal) to loo...

Re: No sparks

Rob. Yes the green one. I eventually sold the Alta head for £2000 to a guy in Oz. Under pressure I am looking to sell the car and several useful spares but don't want to try unless I can get it to run. Also a few people want to see photos so I need it out of the garage.

Wow thanks. Will take a while because I can't get starting handle through without taking bumper off which is why I have not turned the engine manually yet!

I had not done anything to the electrics. Ignition key on shows ingnition warning light OK. Test bulb lights across battery - car is pos...

Driver's door lock

Have a new lock to put in complete with handle but cannot get the old one out. I have removed the three screws which fix it to the door, the jubilee clip which links it to the release bar, and the trim clip on the outside of the door under the handle (which broke). Can slide the lock backwards just ...

Ah so. If you had called me back if condensor didn't work I would have feared head gasket. Anyway not too hard to fix on a minor. Good luck.

heater valve that works

Anyone got any new old stock late heater valves? The business end of my new one just totally fell off because it's only held on pegs and slots which just not tight. These things are about as good as new replacement hydraulic brake light switches.

Lower trunnions

Can I change the lower trunnions by removing the front arm or do I have to remove both arms from the torsion bar etc etc?

Carb too rich

I had to change the jet to get a new pipe float chamberto carb because all in one unit. Since then I have not been able set the mixture corrrectly which seems too rich. Have screwed the adjusting nut right up. If lifted the piston drops down cleanly with a click. Lifting the piston pin speeds up the...

Fuel problem finally resolved.

After changing coil, plugs and fuel pump twice without success I finally replaced the jet. Bingo! Think probably the little pipe from the float chamber and/or the little washer was at fault. Possibly suffering from modern petrol. Thanks to all for suggestions. (I never did get the carb bell off beca...
