Re: Cutting out!
Its only partially disassembled at the minute, I might try putting it back on the car. Looks really new though, definately not original and looks about the newest thing on the whole car so I doubt its the rubber failing!

Re: Cutting out!
Thanks, that diagram is really helpful! Ive got it in pieces now, the filter is completely clean as are the points, I can't see anything obviously wrong with it, but I admit I dont really have anything to compare it to. A bit puzzled now!

Re: Cutting out!
I'm planning on taking the old one apart, is there anything in particular to look for that could cause a problem? I know the points can go but anything else?

Re: Cutting out!
Yay success! :D But still a bit of a mystery... After replacing everything in the dizzy with new and replacing HT leads, plugs etc there was still no change, but a friend happened to have a spare fuel pump so thought might as well change that too although I had previously had the pump pumping fuel i...

Thanks for that! I will have a hunt round for the original holes because the current broken mount is not in either of those places!

Re: Cutting out!
I appreciate that you are far more knowledgeable than me, but the problem of cutting out arose far before I went anywhere near the points (and has continued in exactly the same manner after I've touched them!) so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to have caused it like that. My point was that the spark ...

Exhaust Mount
Hi, Just wondering, were there different exhaust mounts depending on the age of the car? I have a 1961 four door which the exhaust mount has broken off and I was going to order something like this: http://morrisminorspares.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?products_id=146&osCsid=982e2b9d72a38bdeed0552...

Re: Cutting out!
Thanks Dean, Ive got a spare set of points, condenser, plugs etc. so I think I will replace one at a time and see if anything changes! I will try that wil the fuel pump too, I know the pump is only about 2 years old so I hadnt really suspected it al the problem so far but I guess new doesn't really ...

Re: Cutting out!
If you're suggesting that my 'checking' the points is somehow the cause of the problem, the only reason I was checking them is because there was a problem in the first place! Already checked the cap, leads etc. the other day and all seemed fine but going to give it all another thorough check hopeful...

Re: Cutting out!
Hi, thanks for the suggestions! Theres nothing leaking from the carb, but Ive found the exhaust leak... turns out on closer inspection the mounting at the rear of the car has broken off so its pulling the exhaust away where it joins the manifold... probably should have noticed that sooner but its al...

Re: Cutting out!
That's what Ive ben trying to figure out too! They seem to be coming from around the manifold, but not directly from where the gasket is. More from the back side that the front but there are still some coming from the front, Ill try and take a picture but it won't be until tomorrow. They also seem t...

Re: Cutting out!
Now Ive tried tightening the manifold nuts and that didn't make any difference so Ive changed the gasket as there was definitely a leak from there. The old gasket didn't look too bad but at first I thought that had fixed the problem but unfortunately no :( . She still cuts out after a few minutes of...

Re: Cutting out!
So, just checked the points, plugs etc. , havent got any fresh fuel right now so havent checked the fuel supply but cleaned the plugs a bit (they were a little sooty) and managed to get her started after that, but she sounds terrible and there seem to be LOTS of exhaust fumes coming from the manifol...

Re: Cutting out!
Thanks for all your replies and help, once its finally stopped snowing I will go through everything on the checklist and hopefully get her started! Thanks Dean, that would be great, I think you might be right about it needing a clean up/service, everytime I have a problem and fiddle with it it gets ...

Re: Cutting out!
Finally had time to try and sort this out and now she won't start at all :( . I haven't made any adjustments as of yet, has anyone got any ideas of where to start to get her running? If there are any kind people in the Nottingham area who could be bribed with many cups of tea and possibly a bacon sa...
