Re: wiring loom
I have a top-of-the-range loom from Autosparks. Very, VERY good quality. It is actually for a Srs 2/948 era car but fits well. They'll build custom add-ons for you for a few extra quid. Next time I'd add an extra line for a high level brake light, a boot light, a bonnet area light, a cooling fan fo...

Re: Morris Traveller Restoration Newbie
As an inexperienced welder I sometimes blow holes in what I am welding, if this happens how do you fill the hole? I seem to struggle and just make it bigger when I try to fill it. I have read you can clamp a copper plate onto the back to fill holes, has anyone done this with success? I’m a reasonab...

Re: Morris Traveller Restoration Newbie
Not bad welds for a beginner , did you do any test pieces before welding the car ? I find it important to try a test weld before hand every time you set up the welder , if it sounds like bacon cooking then your nearly there . Adjustment on the wire speed must be made at very small amounts at a time ...

Re: Front suspension rebuild question
Might be a silly question, but, you do know that they are different direction threads on the 2 sides of the car? Yes I’m fully aware of that , I took the old trunnion off and found it hard to do so . I cleaned the grease off and found the lower most threads were not there at all . So that’s another...

Re: barrie's project
If the ride height is beyond adjustment the torsion bar needs the arm moving 1 spline around and the fine adjusting with the plate in the crossmember. In , yes I opened a thread on mechanical posts , I didn't have a clue how to adjust , it's all sorted now but I'm in need of the upright now , as th...

Re: Front suspension rebuild question
Just a quick update , I managed to adjust the large arm on the torsion bar , in the process I fitted new brake cylinders, brake pipes and bleed nipples. I also went to fit the new lower trunnion, and found that the upright threads where cross threaded , the old trunnion screwed up ok , so for now iv ...

Re: Front suspension rebuild question
Is it possible to remove the large lower arm on the torsion bar on the car ? Does the arm just tap off without removing the eye bolt from the chassis to adjust the hight ?

Re: barrie's project
Managed to fit up most of the front rig hand suspension , not happy with the hight of the torsion bar going buy the set up measurements , I seems to low , but the torsion bar is set to the highest! Not sure what to do? The torsion bar doesn't seem to far from lower trunnion. I have to remove parts o...

Re: Front suspension rebuild question

Re: Front suspension rebuild question
Ok , the safest way is the best way, I sure don't want to be hurt or my mate for that matter , like you say the damper is a fair way off the torsion bar and it would be difficult and a little scary if it slipped, thank you for all of your help , il have a go and I'm sure il be asking more questions ...

Re: Front suspension rebuild question
That’s a very good question. The barn I’m using has plenty of heavy things to use but the ratchet strap idea has got me thinking . Is it possible without damaging the body work / mechanical components ? Or maybe use a combination of weight , jack and ratchet strap maybe

Re: Front suspension rebuild question
Your additional questions are answered in my post above. All looking good but:- That bottom trunnion has to be fitted to the swivel before fitting it between the thick/thin arms because the swivel will not screw fully into the bottom trunnion as the trunnion pin is in the way. The bottom trunnion p...
