Re: Electrical Gremlins fuses blowing any ideas?

Ta, did that, Turns out to be the rear offside indicator! One strand of copper wire poking out from the joint. Replaced and working fine now. As ever, in debt to the team and especially Simmitc.

Electrical Gremlins fuses blowing any ideas?

Hello Gang! Once again I am asking for assistance with a fault on the Mog, now only 6 months away from its 70th birthday. So, on Thursday, I was driving home and chucked a left indicator out. Trafficator deployed with a healthy 'clunk' Indicator started flashing. Three seconds later, another 'clunk'...

Re: Massive risk may not have paid off.

Hi Steve, you do yourself an injustice. That is the best, most easily followed set of instructions I could have wished for. I have spent yesterday afternoon attempting to find 'TDC' using a small screwdriver. Then, on my back, trying to align almost invisible timing marks, only to find the engine ba...

Massive risk may not have paid off.

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. Finally, my much abused 1098 started running on three last Wednesday and as it used 2 litres of oil per week, it is time for a replacement. Reality kicks in, The engines I spent £50 to £100 on 15 years ago no longer exist. In their place 'fully reconditioned uni...

Guys, gals and Trans/non binary and those members who do not identify as any specific gender (NSG) Thanks for your help. The evil Desmond is now fighting fit until the next, inevitable crisis, when I shall come, wailing as usual, to tell the members about some disaster that will cause me to threaten...

Further: Eye wateringly expensive. £ 17.30 With discount for piece of plastic worth no more than 40p. I bought it but it doesn't make me feel happy that someone ripped me a new As****e.

Re: Series 2 wiper problems.

Yep, you're right of course, Mea Culpa, a hissy fit on my part. In my defence, This damn car is like an Albatross around my neck. sometimes I wish I had never seen it. I bought it 30+ years ago, just to get to work. It was cheap (£850) and running well. I sold it about 6 years later and suddenly, ma...

Re: Series 2 wiper problems.

Hi, yes that's the part. I did try to upload a photo using the instructions but something went wrong. I'm not usually this hopeless! Anyway, I have ordered the part despite it being eye wateringly expensive. The simple fact is they have one and I need one. A friend offered to 3D print one, using the...

Re: Series 2 wiper problems.

I rang ESM and a very helpful man suggested that the inner cable is normally not an issue and to look at the outer cable where it meets the motor as this can fail. Bingo! there is a plastic tube about 1" in length with one end clamped in the end of the motor and the other held firm by a clip on...

Re: Series 2 wiper problems.

Thanks Mike, I'll order one tomorrow. Again, I was probably looking in the wrong place on their website. It makes sense to renew it. I've had a good look at the wheels and both appear undamaged. Does anyone know if the outer cable is only anchored to the bulkhead by the wheel boxes and motor bracket...

Re: Series 2 wiper problems.

Ok, thank you for reining me back in! I have now had a Guinness and calmed down. I think I had just reached a point having had a half shaft break on me two weeks ago, plus other assorted issues over the last two weeks, that left me asking myself, "Is this worth it?" I have examined the whe...

Re: Series 2 wiper problems.

An update. I tried to make it work again today but still no success, It's very frustrating. The motor works and the inner cable moves in and out smoothly when I haven't got the wipers attached. As soon as I put them on, the passenger side starts jumping over the wheel in the wheel box and making a r...

Series 2 wiper problems.

People, again I start a new topic. Why? When I type in windscreen wipers, I get no results? So, my windscreen motor on my '54 fell off last Tuesday about 12 miles from home in torrential rain and in the dark. The rubber brackets finally let go. No worries, a small section of split screen seemed to h...

Re: Oops! That sounds expensive.

Well I think I may have dodged a rather large bullet. I started to take everything apart on Saturday morning and it all went well. Amazingly, the half shaft came out and the Diff end was undamaged. I have put the new half shaft in and cleaned out the metal filings from the tube and surrounding area....

Oops! That sounds expensive.

Hi all, I report a sorry tale. On Thursday night I was travelling out of Wigston, Leics, at a steady 50 mph when I suddenly lost drive and heard a metallic rumble from under the car. I was able to coast to a farmer's gateway and saw a large amount of axle oil coming out from behind the hub cap on th...

Thanks for the info. I am beginning to think that the rear seat isn't original either. I will try to upload some photos this week.

Original seats Feb 1954 registered S11

Hi all! I hope you are all keeping safe and are well. I have a question for the gang. I have a February 1954 registered S11 two door saloon that I have owned, on and off for about 30 years. It belonged to a mechanic at Minorite in Leicestershire and was certainly not a museum piece. However, over th...

Re: Brakes again

OK I'll try that. There is a small amount of squeal but I put that down to bedding in. The car has now done 200+ miles so I would have thought it would have settled down if that was all it was. Present wife available for assistance tomorrow, so she will be on pumping duties! (phnar phnar!) Sorry, ve...
