Derby City council have introduced an AI service for people needing to renew their ‘blue badges’
They say it is to improve the service, read ‘to save money’.
It’s not going well, the robot seems to have trouble understanding the local dialect/accent.

Re: Fuel pump woes
Does anyone know why Morris decided to use the electrical fuel pump, when many cars of the era worked perfectly well using simple mechanical fuel pumps?

Re: Cashless Society
All of the banks want to close their high street branches, sadly. And they will.
A great loss to us older folk, but we can’t change the flow of change anymore than our parents or grandparents could.

I’m back…
It’s been a couple of years since I became without a Morris. And it seemed a bit fraudulent to post here. Well, I’m now reunited with my Traveller. Thanks to Morris John… who is now the recipient of my old Beetle! And the donor of the Trav,! It’s great to enjoy the Trav again. John has improved her ...

Re: Chamois v Microfibre
I used to use chamois, but converted to microfibre because I'd go through a chamois once a year - they'd either start to smell a bit unpleasant or they'd get that horrible greasy texture. The good quality microfibres have lasted me for donkeys, but having seen the info above about them I think I'm ...

Re: 803 engine. How fragile?
My 1955 A30 is still running fine on its original 803 and gearbox. But ,yes, it is ridiculously slow and really little more than an attractive curiosity. Certainly not a car for everyday use in the 21st century :D I always understood that as the A30 is a little lighter than the Minor, the 803 manag...

Re: Who's had the Covid vaccine? Anyone going to refuse it?
I suspect we’ll all be getting an annual COVID jab in the future.
Like flu, there will be new strains coming along, and the vaccine will have to be ‘tweaked’.

Barbers
I feel really sorry for them. Lots of us old chaps used to go for a cheap trim and a chat every couple of months.
Now we’ve all bought clippers and have wives/ partners grooming
our receding locks.
She does a great job, not sure if I’ll go back to the barbers..

The first respray I had done was in a cave...
It looked like a little garage, but it was a facade on a cave . Matlock, 1995 . He did a decent job too.

Re: Starting Motor
Try putting the car in gear and rocking it, if the starter has jammed that may free it.
Or free it up by spannering the nut on the end of the starter.

Re: Rust-proofing: Dinitrol or Dynax?
I think that most of these products are effective if applied correctly and regularly. When I bought my 1955 Austin A30 , about ten years ago it was almost totally rust free and original. The elderly owner had obsessively sprayed all the greasy bits with engine oil for the quarter of a century that h...
