Re: Spotted today.
Many Minors on display at the very large Stonham Barns Classic Car Show (near Ipswich) today. Every model was present from 1940s side valves to end of production in 1971. 2 and 4 door saloons, pick ups, vans, travelers all in wonderful condition. I was glad I was there with my MG as Tapitha would ha...

Re: Spotted today.
There was a major vehicle show at West Bergholt near Colchester yesterday. There were a considerable number of Minors exhibited so it is not surprising that there would have been several on the way home in the Essex/Suffolk area. One convertible was for sale at £11,500.

Re: Spotted today.
On Saturday there was a very nice lime green Minor van parked outside a shop in Chloraka village just outside Paphos. I expected to see Minors at the Paphos Harbour Classic Car show on Sunday but there wasn't a single one. Lots of VW beetles, Mercedes, Minis, Land Rovers, Morgans, a few MGs includin...

Interior condensation
Why do the windows of my Minor steam up whenever the weather is damp? This morning I was parked on a supermarket car park and when I came back to the car all the windows were steamed up inside. None of the more modern cars had this problem. My MGB has the same problem. At night it is very dangerous ...

If the coolant keeps needing topping up and there is no sign of a leak or water under the car where has it gone?

Oil Leaks
The article about oil leaks in the latest "Minor Matters" states that "........ any leak is usually down to the crank breather system blocking and this is very easy to clear." My question is what and where is the crank breather system and how do you clear the blockage?

Re: Wolseley front hubs/brakes
At last after 3 years I have got round to fitting the Wolseley brakes at the front. I had been waiting until I had a new MOT. I finished the job yesterday and went to a classic car show today. The difference in stopping distance is amazing and it is a worthwhile upgrade. Less pedal pressure needed t...

Re: Spotted today.
Returning from a large classic car show this afternoon I spotted a peat brown Minor heading the other way near Witnesham in Suffolk. We exchanged waves. Several Minors at the show including a very nice green 803cc upgraded with disk brakes. Had a long chat with the owner.

A white traveller was parked in a layby on the A303 at about 9 pm last night (Thursday) headed towards Devon and Cornwall. Going on holiday? I was in my Ford Focus going fast the other way so didn't see details.

Re: Welding - underside - thoughts?
Yes it was both sides and also other rusted bits across rear body and strengthening the part where the towbar fits. Away on holiday at present but will post photos after I am home in 3 weeks.

Re: Welding - underside - thoughts?
Hi, Just got new MOT for Tapitha. Took her to the garage I always use to have new lower left front trunnion replaced and MOT. I also said I thought some welding might be needed. Two days later I called to see how things were going. They found that the areas near the back rear spring hangers were bad...

Re: Spotted today.
Spotted a beautiful pale green convertible (pre 1964) with hood down driven by a lady on Tuesday going past the bus stop at Ipswich Hospital. Never seen this car before.
Yesterday I saw a black pick-up WFU 374 in the driveway of a house in Ipswich.
Sunshine seems to bring out the Minors!

Re: Oily deposit in radiator water
There is anti-freeze in the water. Fairly strong as Tapitha lives outside. The Minor has been laid up over the winter and I did wonder if the anti-freeze chemicals had loosened sludge in the radiator.

Oily deposit in radiator water
I checked my coolant level today and found that the water had a brown oily sludge in suspension. This has not happened before and I wonder where the oil has come from. Oil level on dipstick is OK and doesn't seem diluted by water. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike

Young children in Minors
My friend wants me to take her 3 year old grandson to a Railway and Classic Car show in "Tapitha" my 2 door Minor in July. I have no experience of young children and I am sure there must be all kinds of regulations regarding carrying children in cars. I only have front seat belts. I know t...

Is it legal to have a halogen headlight on the nearside and a sealed beam light on the offside or must both lights be the same?

Re: Petrol pump not pumping!
At last the fuel supply is sorted! I worked on it this morning but still failed to pump petrol from tank. After lunch as a last resort I phoned the AA. A very pleasant AA gentleman came and did all the things I have done but he had a device for sucking petrol up the supply pipe from the tank and int...
