I am led to believe the reason for the price hikes in car insurance the last few years is down to underwriters lumping electric vehicles in with I....

Re: series 2 - massive water leaks

Those are wrong, the seals are wrong. Should be felt excluder in the side channels and fabric weatherstrips. The current horizontal one might be OK and more effective but the correct weatherstrip is needed on the inside.

It doesn't actually state the rating, capacitance in Microfarads, which is kind of important.

You can't get the original type of carpet any more. The factories haven't made it for ages.

Re: Aussi rocker cover

Vendor must be on drugs. The gauze breather arrangement is probably to catch oil mist and return it to the engine as droplets rather than suck it out and burn it, as a warm dry climate would not be troubled by condensation.

Re: 12G202 Head. Beyond salvage?

Just as another couple of asides. I never fit the rad cap - if at all- tightly, until after the head had been re-torqued. A small precaution (and as far as I know, never required), but just another point of being on the ‘safe’ side if ever there was a possible issue. I always attempted to loosen th...

Re: Carb question

Check for air leaks, all carb manifold flange gaskets in order, insulating piece is not cracked, and finally check tightness of manifold bolts and the two carb bolts with spring washers underneath. Don’t rule out an ignition fault such as extreme wear in the distributor, or even wrong distributor fi...

Minor Matters indicator switch

On page 13 (Vol.44 No.5) a man has written in with a picture of a component from an indicator switch replicated by 3D plastic printing. I have never seen one before as shown in the picture and am unsure what component it actually is.
