Hi Bryan, great! Are the others also new or used? Please can you confirm condition if used as I need a good one. How much including postage please. Do you also have a 40333? Many Thanks.

Re: Series MM Distributor
Thanks, I'll ask for a quote. I'm on a budget after Christmas though so may have to consider a second hand replacement if this option proves too expensive. Cheers, Karl.

Re: Series MM Distributor
Hi Rob, thanks for the advice. I was a little confused as the books say it should be DKY or so I thought. So the model I have is a D2AH4, type A176, service number 40333? One book I have says this type was fitted to later MM's but doesn't show a diagram. Do you have any spare that I can buy. If not ...

Series MM Distributor
Please can you help me. Is this the correct distributor for my car 1952? I've added some photos. I would like to buy a replacement as there is a significant amount of wear in the shaft which is making it really difficult to set the points etc. If anyone could sell me one or point me in the right dir...

Re: Knocking/tapping in 918 side valve
I took the car to show on the weekend. Some of the other owners suggested that it could be the distributor. It does appear to be making a noise and when you touch the distributor it changes the note of the engine, so there must be a lot of wear in the shaft or something. Bad news is, I've spoken to ...

Re: Knocking/tapping in 918 side valve
The noise seems to be coming from higher in the engine than though to be honest.

What are the top end pins? Or the piston clamp ring? And how would I check these?

Re: Knocking/tapping in 918 side valve
I've taken the car out for a run today as I'd reached a do or die situation. It run really well, no lack of power or engine missing etc. the tapping noise was very loud to start but did get quiter when it warmed up and the oil pressure drops to 20 at idle. It however didn't go away. I'm still no wis...

Re: Knocking/tapping in 918 side valve
The head has been skimmed very slightly but I'm not in a position to get the block skimmed currently. That's why I used the sealant and bolted it down at 44lb. The water leak is now sorted to I'm happy with that aspect. All the tappets are less than 0.018, I haven't run the engine with the tappet co...

Knocking/tapping in 918 side valve
Hi, I wonder if someone can help me please. I have recently changed the head gasket on my 918 side valve as it was leaking water quite badly. Re: Head Gasket Washers
Hi,
I've looked at the studs and they are looked fine. I can get it to torque up nice 44lb etc but after the car warms up and runs for a bit the nuts can be re torqued... It looks like they have become loose.
I've not seen a mm head without washer before?

Re: Head Gasket Washers
Hi, thanks guys. Its been going on all summer really and does seem to leak quite a bit even when the car is left overnight... I wake up to a little puddle the next day? I checked the head and the block and cant see any imperfections at all so the issue must be to do with something else. I will try B...

Re: Head Gasket Washers
Hi Mike, Its a Qualcast head and I bought the head gasket from Gaskets for Classics. It looked like a nice one with crimped edges etc I had the head skimmed because it was leaking water after the first time but the issue is still there. 44 lbs of torque and re torqued a few times but its like the nu...

Head Gasket Washers
Hi, I have changed the head gasket on my 1952 side valve but there is water leaking from the one edge. I have asked around and the general consensus appears to be that I have the incorrect washers fitted. I am told that I need much thinker hardened steel washers but I have been unable to find any. P...

Re: 1949 MM Gear Nob
Hi Mike,
I have emailed you regarding an MM gear knob. I am very interested in getting one as I expressed in my email. If there is a waiting list, please can my name be added to it. It would also be nice to understand how long it will take for one to be made and at what cost etc.
Thanks,
Karl.
