Re: Petrol Cap Seal

As the cap is vented petrol will come out of the filler cap when going up a steep hill if the tank is overfilled and even if the seal is new. If the cap was not vented the fuel pump would not be able to pump petrol and if it was able pump petrol the vacuum created in the tank may even collapse the t...

Re: dome rubber / suspension.

The BL workshop manuals state either right or left when looking forward from the rear of the vehicle. It does not differentiate between R/H or L/H drive. Whilst it is not safe to assume that the vehicle in question is not in the UK and is not L/H drive the OP has given no indication that he/she is a...

Re: 1275 Block, Ebay wrongly listed

Having done some digging:- The 1098cc engine has the same flywheel arrangement as the 1275cc engine i.e. 6 bolts and 1 dowel. The 1098cc engine has a normal spin on oil filter. The 1098cc engine has diagonally split big ends. So on the face of it & the evidence gleaned - the engine is a 1275cc pre '...

Or

Near-side (N/S) the left side of the car when looking forward from the rear.

Off-side (O/S) the right side of the car when looking forward from the rear.

Re: Ex-Military Traveller

Give us an idea of the units it was allocated to and we might be able to help. After the closure of Beverly Army Transport Museum some records were transferred to the RCT Museum at Deepcut. If it is still operating they might be able to help. When I worked for REME we had a Morris 1098cc traveller a...

Re: dome rubber / suspension.

They are handed so make sure that you get the correct one - better to replace both R/H & L/H whilst you are at it.

They are each held in place with two 1/4" UNF bolts/nuts/washers.

Re: Petrol filler problem

The original type wire clips are available from MOSS :-

You can use banded clips (jubilee) but use a type with rolled edges so as not to cut into the rubber pipe.

Re: Ital needle roller bearing

So long as your are not using a large lump hammer the needle roller bearing carrier can be knocked into the rear of the crankshaft.

Before you knock the bearing into the rear of the crankshaft - have you tried fitting the bearing onto the Minor first motion shaft and does it fit?

Re: Ashtray in centre near hand brake.

Use the existing 4 screw holes and you will need to lift the carpet either side of the transmission tunnel to access the screw holes. You may have to cut 4 small slots in the carpet to allow the screw tabs to fit through. There are no electrics directly under the transmission tunnel and if you use t...

The screw holes should be in the transmission tunnel and the screws when fitted are hidden under the carpet.

The front eye of the top leaf of the van spring eye is larger therefore the traveller springs will not fit. http://www.morrisminorspares.com/rear-suspension-axle-propshaft-c87/rear-suspension-c89/rear-spring-shackle-bush-kit-rubber-van-pick-up-p831325 Note the larger bush for the spring front eye. Re: PCD? Ofset? what do they really mean?

If the hubs are PCD for Ford wheels the offset of the Morris wheel is irrelevant as they will not fit. You need to find wheels that fit the Ford PCD with clearance for the Minor swivel. With a clearance distance of 4" between the outer face of the hub (the face onto which the wheel is secured) and t...

A Morris engine lifted by a Morris crane. Superb :D There again to some the Minor is slightly agricultural. I have a Minor grease gun for greasing my Minor. It does not have to be manufactured by BMC or Morris to feel relative. http://www.morriscranesystems.com/about/history https://www.googl...

Re: Clutch and brake pedal stop plate

Only on the clutch pedal was the plate and seal fitted. The plate and seal was fitted on the clutch pedal as the clutch pedal is exposed to the elements so that wet and dirt may get in if the plate and seal were not there - whereas the brake pedal located in the chassis leg is not exposed to the ele...
