Re: Wiper Motor plastic guide
Stephen, Also on later cars it is easily accessible as its on a bracket near the near-side hydraulic suspension damper, if I remember correctly. Haven't had a "later" car for a number of decades now - Series III onward fitting location below (picture taken from an eBay advert) Later type m...

Re: Wiper Motor plastic guide
Hello Simmitc, The flattened off part does fit in the first recess of the wiper motor, the round end then fits into a recess on the first wiper wheel housing point. Image with housing plate removed below First anchor point.jpg This is an image of one of my other motors that had been fitted with a pl...

Re: Wiper Motor plastic guide
Thanks Stepeen, But that is not it - the motor is a Lucas CRT one as fitted to the Split-screen cars and also to some other British models. The flexible connection is a one-piece affair, with a round collar at the wiper box end and a "U" shaped one that goes inside the motor casing (as in ...

Re: Wiper Motor plastic guide
OK, I have now found some photographs. The next pics are from the Series II 4-door First a broken example Wiper motor tube-1.jpg Next, one that was fitted to the Series II repaired motor (but taken off another motor) Wiper motor tube-2.jpg Then we have the original coupling "tube" as found...

Re: Wiper Motor plastic guide
Now, that is a very good question. It is tubular with a "knuckle" at one end that fits inside the CRT motor case. I didn't think I fitted both the ones I bought but, as I cannot find the 2nd one, maybe I did fit it, which means I can't take a photo. I'll go through my archive of digital im...

Wiper Motor plastic guide
Hello Folks, Back in November 2018, I bought 2 replacement plastic cable guides that fit into the CRT wiper motor, from Charles Ware (long gone now). Their part number (and a lot of these part numbers were common across all the suppliers, except Moss Europe) was WPR125. ESM don't have it and I also ...

Re: Goldseal fan belt
As someone has already stated, the pulley diameters vary between engines. My 2 sidevalve engines, both with water pumps fitted, take different sized belts. I also have 803cc and 1098cc engined cars, so need a varying number of belts. The sidevalve belts are all wider flat-botttomed "V" pro...

Re: UFN 456 plumbing
Im not sure but I would guess that it is for one of those Smiths auxiliary type pumps that mount on top of the dynamo and run off the fan belt. I do have one of them but was never sure were the water supply would come from!! David, resurrecting an old thread to ask you if you could please measure t...

Re: Smiths Auxiliary Water Pump
So George, that's what that pump's for! I've had one on the shelf for over 50 years and have been wondering all the time. But, blimey, the ticket price of £50's high; do you want another one? Mine's scruffy but complete and turns - but no lubricator, of course! When visiting Farnboro' (we're ex-Nor...

Re: Smiths Auxiliary Water Pump
The refurbished Lucas C39PV dynamo (with oiler), in the picture, cost me £25.00 (a very very good price) at one of the Beaulieu Autojumbles (I've flashed it for +ve Earth use and tested the output), the Smith's auxiliary pump was labelled as £60 ono and the seller also had the metal fronted "be...

Re: Smiths Auxiliary Water Pump
Here is the promised mock-up, albeit a day late, sorry.
I do have a dynamo end for mounting the fan blades and I just need a couple of fitting straps to go around the dynamo. George.

Re: Smiths Auxiliary Water Pump
Aha, the belt doesn't go around the Smiths device, it sits on top of the belt!
I'll do a mock-up tomorrow and photograph it.
George.

Re: Smiths Auxiliary Water Pump
Hello Taupe, I've ordered from the Dynamo company. I've also rerun my "brass oiler for dynamo" search and my Google search engine has now come up with both items! Before I posted, all I got was the oilers for lathes etc. So, many thanks for the response - now need to find a couple of strap...

Smiths Auxiliary Water Pump
At long last I have managed to buy one of the original Smiths Auxiliary water pumps for the early Series MM engines. General view-1.jpg The current engine in my 1950 Low-light is a USHM3, but the bolt-on water pump's downpipe isn't connected to anything, being just blocked off. Instead it has the ea...
