Dynamo sparking
Hello, I have just had my 948cc converted to negative earth in order to fit a powermax electronic ignition. The ignition is working fine however I have noticed that there are some blue sparks which can be seen toward the back of the dynamo when the car is rev'd a little. I don't know whether this is...

Re: Fume vent pipe
Started up this morning and no fumes. The fumes only seemed to appear after the engine was run for a while. This was the first time in six years that the car had been out. There are no abnormal noises from the engine and it seemed to be pulling away fine.
Thanks
William
Thanks
William

Re: Fume vent pipe
Thanks but I fear the advice is too late as I drove the car back from the MOT tonight. It was only when I stopped and opened the bonnet as I could hear an unusual sound that I saw the escape of fumes from this down pipe.

Fume vent pipe
Hi I have just driven a friends 1098cc which has been laid up for about 4 years. It was driving fine except after it was warmed up there is a constant escape of fumes from the metal fume vent pipe on the side of the engine. Actually I originally assumed it was steam, but I think it was exhaust. Has ...

Hi, Thanks yes she was registered in March 1957 from the details noted on the V5 and the original invoice which I have. However I am trying to establish what happened between 1957 and now. I bought her from Liverpool, I think the previus owner may have ought her in Reading, before that I don't know,...

1957 Turquoise Convertible Registration 1590 F
I have recently acquired this lovely little car in very good original condition. It comes with it's original bill of sale so I know that it was a London car. However other than the fact that I believe it had only one owner up till 1994, that it was subsequently used for shows (as it came with a show...

well, i've checked the fan belt, fitted new bushes, the light still comes on. I am more concerned by the loss of power, it doesn't want to pull away - the power is much less than in my other Morris. The car doesn't want to accelerate however when you change gear and the rev's lower it seems a bit be...

Red Ignition light getting brighter
Hi, I bought this lovely black traveller recently. I drove it yesterday for the first time. It starts easily, red light goes out. As soon as you rev to go away the light comes on and gets brighter, once you reach quite high revs, it seems to go off again. Once I change gear and the engine revs are l...

Engine starts then cuts out within about 5 seconds
Hi I have a 1968 Traveller which has been sitting for a few weeks. I managed to start her, however the engine idles for a few seconds then cuts out. Any attempt to press the throttle cuts it out quicker. I have sprayed WD40 on ignition leads and distributir cap to no avail. Has anyone got some advic...

It was refurbished by the Classic Car Garage in Rutherglen Glasgow. I think that the air filter was also replaced last year. If we get a spell of dry weather I may give you a call - its just too wet for the wee convertible these days, I am also not too confident that she will make it too far before ...

Engine not firing correctly when hot
Hi, I have a problem with the 1098cc engine in my minor. She was very lumpy when starting from cold and inevitably cut out when driving out of the garage. I replaced the plugs and that seemed better. However before this and now again when the engine has been running for say 30 mins to 1 hour, there ...

Thanks for all the info, (the rear wings are the same) however I'll get the torsion bars checked out and if its not this but the rear springs I'll probably get them both replaced at the same time. Is there a recommended place to look for rear springs or is it the usual outlets? Thanks to all Regards...

Convertible leaning slightly to the right
I have a 1959 convertible which I have recently purchased. I have only just noticed that it appears to lean slightly to the right at the back around the rear wheel arch. I would guess that it is perhaps 2 inches lower to the right than the left. Is this a common problem and any ideas if I need to do...
