Re: Almond Green Traveller EAF234B

Glad to know I understood the Cornish system right, thanks for the information MCYorks.

However, massive egg on my face...

I knew it was a Cornish reg, but it was YCV not EAF.

Re: Almond Green Traveller EAF234B

It's almond green, EAF234B Hasn't necessarily been scrapped. If a new owner has changed the registration for a personal plate, then it won't show up on the Gov site. Are you absolutely sure the registration is correct? Only reason I ask is a reference table I've checked doesn't list 'EAF' as ever b...

Re: Almond Green Traveller EAF234B

Nothing on the Gov. Site which probably means its been scrapped ! As you say, I did check and it came up with unrecognised registration. It's a shame if it was, as I "helped" restore it about 15 years ago. It was swapped for a Morris 10/4 with a local woman about 5 years ago. It wasn't in...

Almond Green Traveller EAF234B

Evening all.

Out of interest, does anyone know the where-abouts of this Traveller?

It's almond green, EAF234B

It belonged to my grandfather til around 5 years ago, at which point I believe it made it's way upcountry from Cornwall.

Sounds like I'm dreaming then! I assume in that case it's only worth the parts?

Possibly selling heavy project

Evening all. I may have posted in the wrong place, but I chose here as any sale is completely undecided. Please let me know if I've got it wrong. As a lot of you are aware, I've posted a lot about my "Pig", the 68 2 door. I bought it as I thought it was better than it was. I posted last we...

Re: Panda getting reduced to spares??

When the Met police pandas left the factory they were painted Burmuda Blue and Police White what ever that is. For anyone interested, Police White was a defined colour. When I worked for a dealership it wasn't completely unknown for a Police vehicle to require a quick covert repair and we could ord...

Re: Temporary rust protection for recent metalwork repairs

Or warm the panel with a heat gun, stick the dinitrol in some warm water or get a space heater going.

The temperature instructions are vague at best. Aslong as it's not significantly colder I can't see much difference

Re: Temporary rust protection for recent metalwork repairs

Don't spray wd40 over anything you intend to paint which can't be degreased.

I use etch primer, which is good for a short-time, but I have in the past applied primer then lacquered to create a water proof barrier.

Then sand back when you need to perform more work

Re: Panda getting reduced to spares??

When the Met police pandas left the factory they were painted Burmuda Blue and Police White what ever that is. I have heard police white is whatever white was spare? Haha No, I didn't mean that the doors were the wrong shade of white but that - if you look at the sanded down areas - the original co...

I must say I didn't look too closely.

Are they not the right colour? Wrong shade of white?

Re: Body shell salvage

Yes its me looking for the bulkhead... the top of my one is okayish but the rest of it has been massively hacked about... I'll have a proper good look when I drag it out Matt. Its not so bad when you have your own trailer... im guessing cornwall? That's it! If you're coming from upcountry with your...

Re: Body shell salvage

The only limiting factor is storage space :D I'd keep the whole thing if this wasn't a problem! I have to make space for a clubman estate project. I did consider selling it whole. It is save-able, but not by me. And the trouble with selling is my location. No-one wants to come to the most southerly...

That's the intention. I worked for a vw specialist once and we used to butcher beetles for all sorts of shell parts

Re: Body shell salvage

Anything you can take off, do it. Strip the lot and the parts will live on in other cars. I find, when restoring cars, that it's the little things that are hard to find. Parts that most people don't give a second thought to. For instance the little rubbers and screws securing the window frame to th...

Re: Body shell salvage

Thanks all.

I'll have a look at the bulkhead, I'm sure it's gone in the top corners.

I did think about the rear window surround, I'll have a look once I've taken the glass out.

I'm assuming it's worth keeping all the fittings? ie, handles, hinges, switches

Re: Body shell salvage

Thanks Les, I intend to remove the uprights and suspension units, maybe keep the prop and axle.

I wasn't sure whether there was much demand for roof corners or something like that.
