Re: Brake line fixing - really?
Yes I am going to remove both arms, clean them up, put in the new bushes when they arrive (it takes a week now) and off we go!

Re: Brake line fixing - really?
Camera hat corrected itself.
To me , the LHS looks reasonable, not new but reasonable. the RHS not quite so - but the left he did not like!

Re: Brake line fixing - really?
I took some pictures thi smorning but it seems , the next problem appears as the computer tells me all the pictures on the storage card are damaged and cannot be downloaded. It is one thing after another. However, now I reckon that the test inspector has confused the flange on the rubber to be an ex...

Re: Brake line fixing - really?
Nickol You can buy rubber lined "P"clips which you can put over the piping without disconnection and secure to a surface or suitable bracket. I do have some very similar plastik clips but without the "rubber?" lining, which are used on Audi cars. I installed a few today just by ...

Re: Brake line fixing - really?
Does he mean the damper drop links? There are bushes in these links at the top where the arm is connected to the underbody of the car. That is what they are called! I would think so but I have to ask. As stated before I see no difference between the left side or the right and he complained specific...

Re: Brake line fixing - really?
What a lovely clean underside in that Cathedral classics pic - I surmise in practice, it would not look like that for long if used every day. It is one of the problems with these tests, the inspectors here seem to want all cars to look like that. My LHD Traveller was converted that way by me. It had...

Re: Brake line fixing - really?
Thankyou both for the feedback and especially the Moss line diagramme. There are still the tags to support the brake lines as well as the fuel line and wiring harness to be found. They do not seem to be a firm grip and although do support the various lines in position, they do wobble about a bit. Pe...

Brake line fixing - really?
For those of us in Germany who have a Morris Minor which needs its bi annual test akin to the MOT in Britain, this will not be a new experience of the inconsistencies in testing of our classic cars. The tester has just failed my 69 Traveller due to the brake lines fixing , in his opinion, not being ...

Re: Slipping clutch
I think we all know the feeling when after all the frustration, it finally works. The brake pedal spring ( which is the wrong one - it looks like a drum brake spring) I was able to fit by pulling it through from underneath using garden wire, the other end already having been attached to the brake me...

Re: Slipping clutch
Never cease to be amazed at my own incompetence. Removed the clutch pedal which involves firstly slackening off the exhaust which is otherwise in the way (LHD) Ground off the weld I did before - it was quite good actually - then reset the shaft to position the lever arm in its correct position, sqar...

Re: Slipping clutch
Tja - it never rains but it pours. The welding went quite well but I think I got the angles wrong as to where the lever arm should be set. It may be possible to work something with the adjustment rod but I think I will have to remove it, cut it out and redo it . In the neutral state, I think that th...

Re: Slipping clutch
I went to adjust the clutch travel today on my 1969 Traveller. It had too much free play for some reason. Managed to effect the adjustment with out too much trouble and then started the engine, pushes down on the clutch and it went to the floor as if nothing was there! On investigation it turned out...

Re: Front Brakes
A successful conclusion - but it is similar to a problem I have so I have resurrected the thread, so to speak. ( it saves creating a new one!) . In braking the car pulls to one side, namely to the right. So I have removed the left hand front brake drum, cleaned it all up and got my lovely assistent ...

Re: Traveller handbrake cable
Same problem with my traveller which is why I did a search in the forum and found your thread. As above, I have two new cables installed and despite using the threaded adjustment , the handbrake only really bites when the handle is almost vertical! It will probably not be acceptable when the car has...

Re: Cruising Speeds 1098cc Motorways etc
Good to know this information - I drive my traveller of 1098 Motor but 3,9 differential at about 100kmh on the Autobahn when needed. It is a bit noisy and has a horrible vibration induced noise that needs more investigation but otherwise a real pleasure to drive. A couple of years ago I drove it dow...

Re: Car will start and occasionally drive a few miles, then splutters and stops!
It is never the coil but..........one of the low tension wires had come off! I slipped it back on noticing how loose a fit it was . Engine started no problem. Back home I was able to press the spade connector so it was a tighter fit. Then a new test run just now in the sunshine - all ok! Perhaps th...

Re: Car will start and occasionally drive a few miles, then splutters and stops!
It is always nice to have feedback from problems when they are solved. I Removed the cover of the float chamber which in itself made for a new problem in that one of the cover bolts was a bit stiff and sheared off. For the moment I have drilled and tapped into the embedded bolt M3 and secured it bac...

Re: Car will start and occasionally drive a few miles, then splutters and stops!
After its winter hibernation, I went for a short drive and got the same symptoms which is new to me as since the 10 years I have had the car, this has never happened before. Engine cuts out, wait a few minutes and it starts again , then stops and repeat the whole procedure. The fuel pump has always ...

Re: 1275 speedo
I used a SN 4421 800 from a mini after fitting a 3,9 diff. . You need to experiment with the pointer setting to give a reasonabley accurate (in my case) kmh reading.
