Re: Winter preparations

Their cheap dependable work horses it's just the 306 and things I can't stand  I'm pretty sure that's the peugeot engine they put in the ldv's was the diesel lump Depends on the age of the LDV. The best were fitted with the old Trans...

Re: Winter preparations
A full service would be a good idea along with checking that the charging system is in good order and that there is a decent amount of anti-freeze in the cooling system I have found that cars that suffer from a lot of underside/underbody corrosion belong to people who think that washing the car ends...

Spot weld drilling.
Looking for suggestions about the best way to remove - neatly - the spotwelds on panels. I have seen different tools on ebay, from the cheap "stubby" drill bit to This one . Im looking at removing part of the door hinge posts on my 4 door as there is corrosion at the bottom which extends p...

When was she born?
My 4 door was registered 28/03/60. How can I find out the "manufactured" date?

Detour!!
A closer inspection of the 2 door last week revealed far more extensive corrosion damage than we first thought. with the constraints undercover space and time it really isnt do-able, Thats the amount of corrosion on the underside alone, without the upper bodywork. I was right - a whole lot of hearta...

Re: What revenue weight?
DVLA not seeing callers? Really? That will be news to my colleague who drove to Swansea about 3 weeks ago to sort out registering an imported Mazda. Having spoken at length to a very helpful lady - who phoned upstairs to check what documents were needed, he duly paid his fees and thought that was th...

Re: Turriff Vans.
I have lost track of the company since then, but it seemed to be a big concern at the time. Im sure the van no longer exists, along with the Thames 5cwt he drove for the next gas related firm FWN387D. Ive always had a pretty good memory for registration numbers

Re: When grinding, wear eye protection
beware of sneezes when using a 9" grinder.. I cut through my top lip resulting in over 30 stitches. According to a friend I looked like an extra from a horror movie coming out of the garage with blood leaking from my mouth and the angle grinder tangled up in the fleece I was wearing under my ov...

The start of a long journey
I have recently acquired a 63 (A plate) 2 door in light blue. I'm assuming the number is original as it is a London area sequence. Shes in a sorry state having been off the road for several years and she has "transport damage" from careless lifting at the bottom of the n/s/r wheel arch. So...

Re: Vizard book
I Looked earlier, there is only one under £30, and thats a "collect in person only" deal.. way too far from me. Typical of my luck  Theres one on click and collect from Argos at £32 but that takes a week.... ESM also have a Minor Modification Manual (Owen Burton) @ £7.50 and the 3rd ...

Vizard book
I have been reading through as time allows, I have just acquired a 63 2 door on an A plate, its in a sorry state right now and I plan to start on the body in the next 6 weeks. Obviously this is a long term project, my last contact with a moggy was a van I rebuilt in 1980 (it came to me with a break ...

Turriff Vans.
My father worked for Turrif on the Natural Gas conversion in Wales around 1969/70. Attached to his stores unit were 2 vans, a blue one details unknown and the Yellow (Austin?) Van he used as his daily vehicle OWN566F fleet number 27V23 . I was just wondering if anyone has unearthed any other "T...

Re: Strange brake problem.
Hi, Thanks for the welcome, This was a definite steam/jet, it reached the drivers seat mount :o As far as I can see there is nothing to block the flow, but I was wary of going too far under with just a trolley jack. Next weekend I can get it on a 2 post lift and investigate it properly. The fact tha...

Strange brake problem.
Looked at a car that a friend of mine has sitting in his workshop. It is an abandoned project he picked up - a 2 door '67 saloon. Having sorted out the glowing exhaust for him (timing) he mentioned that at some point the braking system would need recommissioning as it was drained down following the ...
