The gold coloured one on the right looks like a Mini one. The one on the left looks like a Minor one.

Neither has mine with its original dynamo
However, you're going to loose all your coolant soon if you don't replace your top radiator hose

Re: New Tyres
Actually, I think you might be surprised how well a Minor handles the corners with a decent set of tyres on. I don't hold up much traffic on the twisty roads I doubt you'll need pressures as high as 30psi but experiment a bit and find what suits you best.

The original BMC ones supplied with the car were paper and did indeed fade.

Re: New member
I would tend to agree with all that has been said before. A 1950s split screen Minor is probably not the best introduction to classic car motoring on a daily basis - certainly if the original type engine is still fitted. A Minor 1000 in my opinion is a completely different animal and will do the job...

Re: Door binding
If the car is largely original, it is much more likely that the wing is the problem than the door. I had a similar problem with one of my Minors and found that removing the "hockey stick" chromed moulding at the front and moving the wing slightly stopped the door catching. I then filed out...

Re: ROSE TAUPE OR PEAT BROWN
Peat Brown replaced Rose Taupe around the end of 1967. They look quite different when parked next to each other but often confuse people. Both came with a red interior. Rose Taupe cars generally had off white colour wheels and a red coachline. Peat Brown cars had silver wheels and a white coachline....
Re: Boot lid
Any Minor bootlid should fit but there was an update around 1964 when the telescopic stay was fitted. The inner frame on the later bootlid is slightly different because of this. Good luck finding a rustfree secondhand bootlid though. Most of us could do with one of those! Getting your original one r...
Re: clarkson
Not any more. He reportedly sold his share to the BBC (he and Andy Wilman the producer owned 50% of "Top Gear" between them) for around £8million 2 or 3 years ago. The BBC now own all of it.bmcecosse wrote:He may even still own the 'Top Gear' name.....

Re: REPLACEMENT WINGS
They don't fit very well, the steel is very thin and of poor quality so they rust while you're sleeping :( I have a pair on my saloon and when they completely fall to bits (which won't be long....) I'll spend the extra and buy some Heritage ones next time despite the extra cost. It'll be worth it in...

Re: My First Morris Minor
Glad to hear it found a good home. The owner had been trying to sell it for a long time! I went to see it months ago when he also had two others for sale as well. The green car was the best of them and had the best rust-free doors I'd seen on a Minor for a long while. It was SO plastered in undersea...

A good idea. The only thing you have to watch for is possibly increased strain put upon the weak fixing of the bonnet crossmember to the bonnet skin - just 2 or 3 spotwelds

Re: One millionth minor auctioned in Surrey
BMC themselves did offer one or two metallic finishes in the 1950s on their more expensive models. The Wolseley 6/80 and Riley RM were both available finished in metallic paints.

Yes. It can. You just have to cut off a few inches at the back. The shape is otherwise the same.lencot76 wrote:Does anyone know,if the lower door repair panel for a 2 door car,can be cut down the fit a 4 door car Len

Re: Tyred Out!
I don't think Esso sold a range of tyres until some time later than that but it must be a fairly old tyre!Tyres often surviv quite well in a dark car boot. "Regraded quality" tyres are not the same as remoulds. Regraded tyres are new tyres which sometimes have a cosmetic moulding fault or ...

Re: Recommissioning after long lay-up.
One of my Minors stood in its garage and never moved for 20years. When I put it back on the road I didn't need to replace any brake drums or even shoes. All the hydraulic cylinders and flexible hoses were thrown away as a matter of course however.

Re: One millionth minor auctioned in Surrey
It isn't a great place for a Morris Minor.........which you haven't driven before.........and which doesn't have indicators.
Hopefully the new owner will have far more pleasurable journeys in the future though

Re: New Tyres
Incidentally, our local garage also charge £10 each for tyre (or £30 for a set of 4) but that does include removing the old tyres AND disposing of them (which will cost you....), supplying and fitting new valves, and balancing all wheels. I don't think it is too expensive if you didn't buy the tyres...
Re: New Tyres
Yes, buy them if you're on a budget. I've had them on our daily used Minor saloon for the last few years and have had no problems whatsoever. They are good value for money.
