Re: Gearbox bolt question
Got a reply off-line from Darren at Minor Magic, thanks Darren. For anyone interested the bolt locates the reverse gear shaft. I was able to carefully remove and replace without an issue but was touch and go

Re: Trim positioning question
yes it is a 4 door. There are several holes that dont line up so the previous owner was also unsure apparently LOL. Must the outer edge of the steel trim butt up against the door seal ? Or does the radius portion of the steel trim actually cover a part of the door seal ?

Re: Fuel gauge or fuel sender causing fuse to blow
John thank you so much, your post made a whole lot of sense and I confirmed its not a short but a resistance in the circuit of around 6 Ohms as you pointed out. :D This has helped me a lot as I have now realised that the white wire was not an issue and I was chasing my tail LOL. Long story short I d...

Trim positioning question
Can someone share an image or explain how the steel trim pictured below should be attached to the interior ? I took the car apart 5 years ago and I forgot. Not sure if it should go snug up against the door seal or if there should be a gap

Gearbox bolt question
I have a slight leak from one of the small bolts on the underside of my gearbox. I want to remove it and put a new washer on but before I do that can someone tell me if that will disturb some internal shaft or gear ? or can it safely be removed and replaced ? See attached image pointing to the bolt ...

Thanks for all the tips, it must have been a gummed up valve because it suddenly started working and is fine now. Appreciate the responses

Re: Fuel gauge or fuel sender causing fuse to blow
So I think I may have traced the fault with my limited knowledge of electrics. The green wire that supplies the power to the flasher unit, fuel gauge, wiper motor and brake pressure switch was shorting to earth. Then I checked the wire at the fuse-box which supplies the green wire with power through...

SU fuel pump not pumping fuel
I know there have been several posts on this topic so apologies if this question has already been answered. I have an electronic SU fuel pump and after 5 years of rebuilding the car I find no fuel will pump from the tank. I can feel faint puffs of air on the outlet but when I put my finger on the in...

Thanks very much Geoberni. I have a basic knowledge of multimeters/ electronics but clearly no expert. I'll do the checks you suggested.

Fuel gauge or fuel sender causing fuse to blow
I have just finished rebuilding a 57 Moggie and have fitted a new wiring harness. When I turn on the ignition the fuse that supplies power to the green wires blows. When I disconnect the gauge green wire and the green/brown wire the fuse does not blow. Does this mean my gauge is broken or the fuel s...

Re: Wiring flasher relay
When we say that the flasher units are not polarity conscious, does that mean I must connect the X terminal to earth regardless of polarity or does that mean I can use the flasher with a positive earth car but must swap the X and L terminals ( so L goes to positive earth )

Re: Poor quality parts
I have spent hundreds of GBP on parts from Moss and Bull Motif and have encountered numerous issues relating to poor quality. In particular I would like to warn prospective customers of the following parts. Convoluted rubber radiator hoses ( Mine cracked before I even filled the system with coolant)...

Re: Crank rear oil seal conversion for 1098 cc ?
Can someone tell me what the function of the split pin is in the drain hole/ breather of the bell housing ? ( Jiggle pin?)
Also I'm interested in the PCV valve mentioned, where can I get one for my 948cc ?

Re: Crank rear oil seal conversion for 1098 cc ?
Thanks for the detailed reply Phil. I doubt my engine is going to leak as badly as that, I was really just curious what someone might do if they wanted to get a factory spec clearance on the scroll seal. I was wondering if anyone has thought of boring out the rear bearing cap in the area of the scro...

Thanks for the reply Declan, would you be able to make one for a Morris Minor with a side tap and sell to me? And if so how much ?

Re: Crank rear oil seal conversion for 1098 cc ?
I have one more question for the members. If it is found that the oil leak from the scroll seal on the engine is excessive, how does one rectify this ? I heard we need to skim the bearing caps and line bore ? Is that correct ?

Re: Crank rear oil seal conversion for 1098 cc ?
Thanks very much for the detailed response Declan. I like the mods you have made for ground clearance. Regardless of how effective my attempts to fix the leaks are I think I will pursue a similar device. By the way that aluminium welding is really good. :) What material is that insect sponge made of...

Re: Crank rear oil seal conversion for 1098 cc ?
Hi Declan I am really impressed with your drip tank, it seems like a great solution for a leak that is not too severe. I'm curious, what mileage do you cover before it needs draining ? I will be pursuing all avenues to correct the leak issue my car has as per the guidance / advice from Phil but ulti...
