Steering Rack Lubrication
My manual says to lubricate the steering rack by filling a grease gun with SAE 90 Hypoy oil. Is this correct, won't the oil simply drain from the grease gun? The manual also says to repack the hubs with grease. Does this simply mean putting grease in the caps at the end of the hubs or is nore disman...

Rust Proofing
I've just ordered some Dynax S50 to protect the cavities. I plan to do the chassis legs, sills rear arches from boot and under rear seat.
Are there any other areas I should do?
Are all areas accessible without drilling holes?
Thanks for any replies.

Re: Cost of a new Moggie if made today?
I guess that there are so many ways at looking at this but , as suggested above, the price would be based on fact that it was a basic car in it's time so it would be at the cheaper end of current car prices. Not sure what the minor sold for in 1972 but I'll take a stab at a round £500. If you were w...

Cloned Car Being Broken up
Here is a photo of my 1970 trafalgar blue minor given to me for my 60th birthday. Whilst I wanted to preserve it, my grandchildren had other ideas. They wanted to set it alight before cutting it up.
Better keep the actual car away from them.

Re: 1956 traveller 'special'
What a superb motor. Might be time to consider ditching the drum brakes if you don't have a a parachute to slow it down. Actually, I have just realised that my standard 1098 car might be quicker than yours on the public highway if you have the parachute. What a pain, everytime you come to a set of l...

Boot Handle and Lock
I have a 1970 two door saloon and would like to replace the boot handle (due to heavy pitting) but wish to retain the original lock.
Can the lock be removed and replaced easily?
Thanks for any replies.

The writer claims to be a Professor. These guys are often said to live in a world of their own (nutty professor and all that) and I suspect that they can be totally oblivious to the fact that people may be offended by their remarks. On the other hand perhaps he is a genuinely nice chap and wrote his...

My 1098cc made a horrible grating noise when the clutch was fully depressed before I altered the free play from half inch to one and a half inches.

Pearl grey Pinstripe
I'm now in a position to apply the pinstripe on my car. In a previous post I was advised to use humbrol model paint .
Can anyone tell me which humbrol colour is similar to Pearl grey please? The humbrol colour chart can be found on the web but I'm struggling to decide on colour.
Thanks

Re: My Traveller - FKX760C
When you say that a DVLA search revealed nothing, are you talking about a web search on the DVLA site or a formal request for info? You can complete a form (downloaded from DVLA web site) requesting all info held about the car from first registration. It costs five pounds. I sent for the info on my ...

Registration Year
One of the reasons I bought a Minor was the fact that my father had three in the late fifties and throughout the sixties.
Can anyone tell me when his first minor would have been registered ie 1958 or 1959 ? The registration was 8783 WB.
(A Sheffield registration)
Thanks.

Underbody Protection
The underside of my Morris is in good nick but only coated in chassis black. The previous owner spent a long time getting the old underseal off before applying chassis black. He told me that he didn't like waxoyl etc and believed that the chassis will be protected with the coating he applied. My ini...

Re: Engine Steady Bar
I've got the kit and bracket for the head but there is no way that a nut will fit on top of the bracket in addition to leaving the head bolt in situ as mentioned above. Is the answer to grind down the bracket or put in under the headbolt? Even if I did the latter, there wont be much thread left.

Thanks; I took note of your suggestion about using Humbrol but given that I haven't seen what pearl grey lookes like I wasn't sure about which colour to buy.
