Re: Fitting Traveller aluminum front quarter panel

Thanks for the photo Mark - yes I can see the folded lip which is the same as I have on my old panel. Interesting when I contacted Steve Foreman they didn't have any in stock and suggested I try ESM.

And thanks for the offer Tim.

Fitting Traveller aluminum front quarter panel

I understand from ESM that their reproduction front quarter panel doesn't have the lip at the bottom where it fits against the wooden sill as my original panel does. Without this I'm finding it difficult to get the new panel to sit easily within the wood frame. Is this how reproduction panels are no...

Re: SU carb float chamber not filling

Take the float chamber lid off and blow through the brass inlet pipe - it may be that some of the rubber pipe segments are blocking the passage through the float chamber lid. If you can blow through it must be the hose. I'll give it another go and as I have a new rubber hose will fit that to see if...

Re: SU carb float chamber not filling

I don't have to force the needle with the screw driver tip - I'm only using this as I can't get my finger in the gap with the float still attached to the lid. It moves easily. With regard to the rubber pipe if fuel can be pumped through it when it's not connected to the chamber lid surely it can't b...

Re: SU carb float chamber not filling

Thanks for the responses. The pump sends fuel through the rubber pipe but this stops when the pipe is connected to the float chamber. There doesn't appear to be a blockage in the brass inlet pipe on the chamber lid. The valve moves up and down when pushed with a screw driver. It's the standard HS2 1...

SU carb float chamber not filling

The carb float chamber won’t fill with fuel despite the pump working and send fuel through the pipe. When the pipe is attached to the float lid it stops. I’ve cleaned out the float but this has made no difference.
Any ideas as to what’s wrong?

Re: Fuel pipe bend

I've used a small pipe bender on the rest of the pipe, it's just the final part to the pump. I've made the 175ish degree bend as per the photo but there is a double kink needed to bring the pipe in line to the pump. Hope this make sense!

Fuel pipe bend

Does anyone who has fitted a cupro-nickel fuel pipe have any tips about forming the 'kink' in the pipe where it joins the fuel pump? The rest of the pipe has been relatively easy to bend by pipe-bender and hand to match up to the old steel one.

Fan blade colour

Can anyone tell me the correct colour for the fade blade and pulley on a late 1971 black engine Traveller please? Will it be the standard yellow?

My Traveller was registered in August 1971 and what paint is left on the block is black as is the rocker cover and sump.

I think it was Travellers built around 1971/72 that had black engines.

Correct colour for engine ancillaries?

Should the ancillaries on the engine of a 1971 Traveller which has the block pained in black be the same?

Thanks for the response Bob. I thought late Travellers like mine had their engines pained black rather than green.

kevin s wrote: Mon Mar 11, 2019 9:41 pm I found it easiest to bend it to the shape of the old one first then fit it, you might have to bend it a bit more to get it in but it straightrns out easily enough once in place.
That's what I had intended to do. Did you feed it through from the pump end?
