Re: Trafficators
Ouch yes I see the NOS price would make it an expensive operation as i'd have bodywork to sort also with mine having been filled over, but then looking at them the NOS ones appear to be in a holder which I assume stops rainwater getting into the car?. I did see some brackets on Ebay also for the 2 d...

Re: Trafficators
Ah so the whole assembly is screwed in from the outside? If so yes as you say the whole assembly will be gone. I suppose it'd be costly then to replace the whole system.

Trafficators
Ok what do we recon to trafficators? I personally like them but it looks like the ones on my 59 model have been filled over. Now would you think it's worth refitting them? I've not looked to see if there's any part of the trafficator mechanism left but there is a slight tell tale marking in the body...

Re: Converting a 2-door
I'd personally take it to someone that has done convertible conversions before. You'd need to add strength to A and B posts or the car would buckle (seen that happen) , also cross bracing to stop front to rear twisting in the door gaps and maybe even bracing to stop scuttle shake which a lot of conv...

Re: Alloy wheels
I have 6X14 Compomotive alloys on Boris Minor. I thought minis generally only went up to 13" on the sportspack models.

Re: Hello to all from me and Boris
The wheels are Compomotive, first job is to sort his engine mounts as they are too hard and also the engine/gearbox sits a little too high (maybe more forgiving mounts up front will help). He needs a bit of fettling lets say and looks better in the pic than he actually is, but over all for his age h...

Hello to all from me and Boris
Been on here for a week or so and am waiting my MMOC membership. Thought i'd add a picture of my newest member of the family (who is also in fact the oldest ). Not sure if he's been on here before with previous owners, maybe you'll recognise him. So MMOC messageboard viewers meet 'Boris'. 1959 2 doo...

Re: Idiots behind you!
I'm certain it's down to car manufacturers and also the majority of todays drivers and way of life. I grew up with minis wolsleys imps minors oxfords and they are still great cars to me. Now my younger brother in law that drives a Honda Civic Type R went to Honda and asked them if they had anything ...

I'm sure that if it was a genuine minor million it'd be advertised as such

Re: Idiots behind you!
Just ignore them ! They're behind you and of no interest, if they want to pass just because I'm in a 1959 minor and break the speed limit even more I let them. I find the drivers that pull out in front of you because you're driving an old car more annoying especially when I have to brake as they ass...

Re: Gear Box Options
I have a 5 speed Sierra gearbox in my 1959 minor but even so I'm thinking of changing the diff as first is almost useless and even in 5th it feels like it needs more.

Yes I know, I was just trying to confirm that the bellhousing was indeed jammed up against the rack. Which it is now looking to be the case.

Re: Engine Mounts
Those spacers and general underside of your mog certainly looks clean. I've checked the engine number and as far as I can find (as it starts with 12V) is that it is a 1275 Marina (then on saying that it does appear to have a spacer plate between the block and bellhousing!!) . I had a bit of time tod...

Re: Engine Mounts
Interesting info on reversing the engine tower mounts. I recon I'll try first to see how much the gearbox mount needs to be lowered to give a bit of clearance from the rack, if a max of 4mm drop or so on the gearbox crossmember sorts it i'll make up spacer plates, obviously i'll need to keep an eye ...

Re: Engine Mounts
I might be barking up the wrong tree here with the engine mounts. Previous owner has put in a 1275 marina engine coupled to a sierra 5 speed box. On a close look over (only had car a week) it looks like the bell housing is touching the steering rack as they've put a thin piece of rubber between the ...

Re: Engine Mounts
Yes I've seen that elsewhere on the board here. Any feedback as to how many holes / what size?
I recon I'll get another pair of new mounts when I drill these just in case. After all if drilled too much they'll be weak.

Engine Mounts
First of all hello to everyone. Just got myself a 1959 Morris Minor and am wondering if there is as yet any answer to the overly hard engine mounting issue as I see a few owners are regretting replacing the old ones. The reason I asked as you'll gather is the previous owner has obviously changed the...
