Cheers thanks. Maybe it's to do with the overall de-reg on cables that I think happened a while ago or just the fact the insulation is distorted on those 2 conductors but they look bigger than 1.5mm yet 1.5mm at 12V will carry 15amp so 180w .
I'll do some digging and see what i've got.
Cheers.

Wiring gauge
Hi everyone, after a bit of info regarding cable/wiring wire size. Whilst removing an old faulty unreliable alarm from Boris Minor I discovered that sometime in the past his lighting circuit has been overloaded (additional lights added at some time I assume). The wires that have distorted insulation...

Re: Trafficators yet again
So the trafficator unit doesn't sit in a full case as such? just the rear 'strap' then a plate either side? I take it this would need to be sealed also. My plan if I do manage to get some is to use a control relay to handle the current of the trafficator but then also add the 'flashing' festoon LED ...

Trafficators yet again
Hi all. Has anyone got a picture of the full assembly of a trafficator for a 2 door Minor, inc shields and mountings ? Thinking of reinstating Boris Minors arms !!!!!!!! A previous owner that restored the car had them removed and the holes in the body covered over, but now as remedial work is needed...

Re: Front Wings
Ok cheers. It's a shame if the herritage wings have the join visible too. So I might as well just sort what I have on (rusted where the join is).

Front Wings
Sorry if it's been asked before but on a Morris Minor original front wing is there a join on the front face of the wing outside of the headlight that runs curved down to the base of the wing? or is this joint only on copy panels ?

Re: Another log book and id tag on Ebay
If you have a 1960 car with no documentation buying a late '56 car's documents means that you can avoid the annual MOT test and save your self money. It also means that in future there will be vehicles on our roads that are moving death traps! Is it really that easy ? just go and buy earlier...

Re: Very noisy vibrating car
The engine should NOT vibrate when you rev it - there's something wrong with it. This is not an engine mount problem....... As it's such a cheap and easy fix I was only suggesting the engine mounts would be worth a try. Engines DO vibrate hence the rubber mountings to stop vibration and noise trans...

I hope it's an Imperial piece and not the shabby modern metric stuff as they don't make it like they used to !!!!!!!!!!!IaininTenbury wrote:I use a lump of wood from time to time when restoring Minors to tweak a door fit. Its a very skilled job

Re: Very noisy vibrating car
If they aren't the original or genuine ones i'd quite honestly change the engine mounts. I didn't think it'd make that much difference till I changed mine (previous owner had fitted new ones but the too hard veriety). New original spec ones made a noticable difference instantly.

Re: Centre Consol (Aftermarket)
Yeah I remember the old 70s centre consoles with screws in the vinyl covered hardboard sides into woodchip !!!!!
To be honest I prefer the older cars like the moggy and 70s minis without consoles as you get the feeling of space (in a mini ???) you know what i mean.

Re: Steering wheel - help please
A nice piece of hardwood behind the central boss of the wheel and hit the wood with a large lump hammer, not very hard as you just need to shock it, turn the wheel 180deg and hit again and it will eventually move. Try a very thin oil / WD on the splines as it will help. Don't hit it harder if it doe...

Blocked pickup pipe filter in the tank. light air pressure from a foot pump blowing back down the pipe can sometimes eventually clear it.

Re: Is there a definitive guide to cylinder head numbers?
MrIan, I think you will find the head you mention was fitted to the mk3 S also. By the time that mark was introduced the S was a shadow of its former self! True, I did doubt mine was an 'S' head mainly on the grounds that I have the full engine and the block doesn't have the tappet chest covers and...

The picture shown with most cars is classed as the heel board, not sure about the other part.
