Re: Disturbing news
Oh there are so many variables in the classic car tag yes/no debate. A car with a programable engine management ECU / air bags SRS system / traction control / has to be plugged into a PC to set up/tuned ? can it be classed as a classic with all these modern systems yes / no? Modern jags and mercs to...

I'm after the nice original engine mounts too! my current ones are way too hard!
Cheers,

Bull Motif, esm might have softer more original spec mounts now i've no idea. Mine from BM a few months ago were fine.

Re: poor quality parts update now happy
At least the part was returned and a call from esm followed which is good. Hence they now have the first or maybe another complaint about a component. This really should make them look into it, on saying that though there might be rogue parts now n then that don't come up to spec and maybe all their...

Re: Morris Minor with young children?
Times have changed, more cars on the road, higher average road speeds and everyone in such a hurry and most drivers have a considerable lack of patience and there is too much distraction i.e. road furniture etc. to keep the drivers mind/attention on the road ahead and keep good peripheral vision. W...

Re: Morris Minor with young children?
Reading all this makes me wonder how we survived as a children in the early 60s in the front or back of moggy saloons, moggy vans , mini vans with no seats let alone belts for years and 10s of thousands of miles. I know times have changed now and I feel it's sad that we have to strap children down i...

Re: thoughts on this car
Drivers door is out of alignment as in it's low both front and rear, also is it the done thing to paint over the wing piping at the rear? I would have thought that would create cracking in the paint especially if the wing needed removing for any reason. But on saying that it's far far cleaner than o...

Re: Welding for Novices
Well when I needed to weld I just went and bought a welder n had a go. Yes ok first welds were maybe strong but ugly but I honestly got the hang of it quite quickly. Get a good auto dimming mask to save a lot of miss strikes and welding where you don't want to !!!!! You'll get used to the sight and ...

Re: wing to inner wing joint
Cheers for the replies. It must be down to the poor copy drivers wing I recon and not been fettled enough so whoever fitted it just filled the gap with seam sealant. The wing does need to be removed at a later date anyway so i'll try and refit it after a bit of panel beating to sort it OR i'll look ...

Re: wing to inner wing joint
Ah I notice the inner wing flange has raised sections where the bolt holes are. I wonder if these are on the outer wing on Boris, if not or they don't line up that would create the large filled gap between wing and inner wing. Although that wasn't the view I was thinking off that's a handy pic, chee...

wing to inner wing joint
Hi all, poor old Boris appears to have very large gaps between his bonnet and wings, the larger gap on the drivers side where a copy wing has been fitted. I was just wondering if anyone could upload pictures of their inner wing to wing joint from above as Boris appears to have the joint filled with ...

Another SU !!!
Sorry.
They've been good carbs for years and years and are still good now so just get another the same if it's ''Dead''
Strange though as I have twin 1960s SU carbs that are original, still fine and serviceable.

Re: Shock absorber replacement
I too have spax adjustables on Boris. There are 2 different rear kits made by Spax (one early and one current one) The rears of the earlier kit like mine are an odd one off size and from site seaching here I think it was found that a Saab front shock is the correct size. I think the newer type Spax ...

Re: My Engine Rebuild
You are trying to shock it with a tight fitting spanner ? I doubt you'll just turn it without shocking it. I know some nuts n bolts on various engines can be a right pig to move. Certain sockets are ok as long as they grip enough of the nut not just the corners.

Re: Fan belt replacement - help, new owner
The engine might very well have been running at the point you switched it off, but the trouble is what's called heat creep is as the car is no longer moving nor the engine running it will get hotter stationary before it cools. The engines though are quite tough but you will have pushed it to near it...
