Re: Fuel gauge problem.

Hi - I had a look this afternoon after a mechanic said to touch the cable that attaches to the sender unit to earth and see what happened. It flicked quickly back down to empty?

Re: Fuel gauge problem.

Hello. It is a '64 car with the gold surround. It reads empty when disconnected and jumps to half full when connected. The car is a distance away so unsure about the colour of the fuel gauge. I put this in last year and have just re-read my old post which said that the other gauge was stuck on full ...

Fuel gauge problem.

Hello, I bought a second hand fuel gauge and fitted it, but when I turn the ignition on it reads half full all the time - even when I disconnect the cable from the fuel sender?

I would be grateful of thoughts.

Chris.

Re: Hello. New member with a Minor Tourer to restore.

Well, we took the Moggie (as yet unnamed) on her first proper long run this afternoon to test my competence at bolting things back on tightly after the resto. I'm pleased to say that, despite one speed hump scare when I was convinced something significent had liberated itself from the car, I counted...

Seat restoration surprise.

The latest job in my convertible restoration, while she is away for a respray, is the interior. The car came with maroon seats which did clean up ok the first time, but yesterday I decided to really give them a proper clean. A nail brush and Cif seemed to do a reasonable job but there were some pain...

Re: New moggy look!

Yes, I really like it, although I'd prefer a round number decal, red wheels and a whole load of manufacturers stickers and stuff.

I may be having a rethink about my standard Old English White paint job at the weekend. :o

Re: Diy spraying advice.

I did say I'd be making some sort of polythene garage on the driveway, but it will only be a canopy to stop stuff from above dropping on the car - it will be open all around the sides so plenty of air movement (although it will have to be a very calm, non windy day for me to do this job.) And I will...

Re: Diy spraying advice.

The advice so far has been much appreciated. Next weekend, weather permitting, I'm going to do the respray using my new lvlp spray gun and compressor. I will practice on the underside of the removed bonnet and boot lid and then, when confident, do the outside of each of those and the removed rear wi...

Re: Diy spraying advice.

That's a great looking paint job, Redmoggy. Just re-reading your advice for spraying my car, how long do you leave between each coat. I will be doing it hopefully next weekend if the weather is dry and warm and not too windy, and I will have some sort of polythene 'garage' set up around the car on t...

Re: Diy spraying advice.

Looks great, Mattyb - thanks for your extra advice. I have to admit, after all the hard and boring prep work, I really feel I deserve to take the glory of applying the final touches to my own car. However, when telling people of my intentions to paint my Moggie, I can sense them smirking and shaking...

Diy spraying advice.

I've been working on the bodywork for some weeks now and have removed glass, chrome, rubber etc and have been giving lots of thought to the finishing paint job, and my final (I think) decision has been to do the spraying myself. With a bit of research I have decided to get a small compressor and a l...

Re: Hello. New member with a Minor Tourer to restore.

My Tourer restoration has been continuing with the help and advice from members of the forum - thank you. I pulled a dent out of one wing and filled and sanded it; loads of wet and dry preparation; some electrical wiring restoration; new front panel and refurbished grille; waxoyling in every nook an...

Indicator flashing double speed one side.

Hello. I just tested the indicators yesterday and found that the nearside ones flash at about twice the speed they should. Front and back are both flashing though. Would there be an obvious (to someone not stupid like me) reason for this?

Indicator/sidelight removal '63 Minor.

Hi, as the title says. I have undone 1 nut from inside the wing but there is a self tapping screw coming out from inside the unit suggesting the lens can be removed to get at it to unscrew.

Is this right?

MMOC email contact.

Hi. I joined the Club and received my pack of stuff a few weeks back but, because I'm stupid, I misplaced the information with my member number which I now need. Is there an email address I can send the enquiry too.
