Re: The New MOT Exemption Rules

I had similar concerns - my 1961 Travellers tax expired 31 May but MOT was 2 June - I retaxed vehicle online & there was no option to declare MOT exemption (MOT was still current) - I have today retaxed online (it let me even though it told me I was already taxed) & the declaration came up s...

Re: MMOC National Rally 2017

Had a great time at the National, shame about the lower turnout of cars but was good to see some different ones - The Queen tribute band were very good at the party & it was good to meet new & catch up with previously met friendly owners - I made the intrepid trip from Leicester in my 948 Tr...

Re: MMOC National Rally 2017

Aha! We're hoping to go, but still have some items in the diary we need to clear out first. Is not-booking and just paying on the day an acceptable option then? Everybody is welcome - member, non member, with Minor or not (if off road or not got one) - just turn up & pay on the gate - the more ...

Re: Rear hub nut

The vast majority of body / steering & suspension fixings on the minor are BSF threads & have Whitworth heads so the correct size socket / spanner for the rear hub nut is definitely 1 & 1/8 Whitworth (1 & 7/8 AF is very close & works well though) - I use my trusty King Dick Whitw...

Re: 2016 Leicester Branch Rally - Great Central Railway

Hi Sally

Yes dogs are welcome to attend the rally & travel on the trains (subject to a ticket) as long as they don't inconvenience other passengers - this is stated in the GCRs conditions of carriage.

Look forward to seeing you there - coming from that direction you will probably see the brown tourist signs for Loughborough GCR Station as well as the stations are quite close by

Re: Traveller Seats, 1962

Originally your car would have had blue seats (std) or blue duotone seats (deluxe) with narrow banding - the passenger seat would have had the folding back but the drivers seat would have been fixed.

As always it's your choice over original spec or your own spec

Are you looking for an MOT nr Leicester ?

If you are then look no further than Ratby MOT station in the middle of Ratby Village just to the west of Leicester - he's a real enthusiast who treats all classics with the respect they deserve - was recommended to me by a fellow branch member & sorted me out a treat - even got a mug of tea as ...

Re: 40 mph speed limit?

I thought governors were set to 56mph? This is where (currently) European & British laws conflict - most British lorries have to run to European regulations which state they must be limited to 56mph but the national speed limit in Eng/Wales is 60mph for a dual carriageway or motorway. Even on a...

Can anyone tell me the correct size socket to fit the rear hub bearing nut so I can go and buy one.

Cheers, Steve

The correct size socket / spanner is actually 1 & 1/8 Whitworth but as others have said 1 & 7/8 AF is a good fit
