Re: Spax upgrade?

I found that the Spax shocks don't really like being at an angle. I went through 2 sets on the rear of my Minor, plus 2 sets that lasted 2 weeks on the front of my rover P6b (similar angle). On my rover i actually heard the seals fail and then spew fluid. I replaced (under warranty)the rover ones wi...

Re: Windscreen Washers - What year?

I had to fit windscreen washers to my Ford Consul Mk2 in 1973 to comply with MOT regs. Up until then, a fairy liquid bottle filled with water sufficed.

Re: Lowlight wing flange

They should just bolt up to the front panel using the hockey sticks as per the steel version. I assume it's a lowlight front panel you are bolting them to, as later panels are a different shape - as are the hockey sticks.

Re: Discovery channel

Quite interesting to see an American show work on a UK classic car. Sadly, Misfit garage doesn't work to the highest standard of the likes of Chip Foose or Dave Kindig, so hopefully it will turn out ok. Still, they've saved another one that was destined for oblivion, and if it fosters the imaginatio...

Re: Wheel spacers to change PCD. Good idea or bad?

These adaptor spacers are quality items and I wouldn't have a problem using them, but they do move the wheel out, but if using more modern wheels which have more backspace, then you will have to carefully measure to prevent wheelarch/ suspension upright fouling. I have a pair (same style) on the rea...

Re: Wheel spacers to change PCD. Good idea or bad?

Just change stud pattern to 100mm pcd. Any good machine shop can do this for you. My brother has just done the exact same thing on a minor rear axle on a trike - got original holes welded on hubs, then got new holes drilled at 100mm, and just filed drums and half shafts to suit (not much needed). He...

Re: Thinking about selling

I think a friend of mine may have bought this. He was probably the first guy to fit a Fiat TC in a Minor and co built Astral Traveller. I'll be able to confirm soon.

Check out the other side for some ideas: http://www.morrisminorowners.co.uk/index.php?sid=ff962ae9c7f4067b4f27acc0cb337914 There may be a guy selling a high specced zetec minor - built by retro cars I think at a not inconsiderable cost - huge saving to be made. I'm not sure how to get in touch, but ...

Re: Nice V8 Hot Rod minor on Ebay

It's getting harder to be different these days. I looked at a 1949 Packard coupe a few weeks ago, but decided it wasn't for me, just too barge like. I've a notion for a Rover P4, but will wait till spring to see whats out there - wife doesn't like them though as we had one back in 1976 and she said ...

Re: Nice V8 Hot Rod minor on Ebay

A friend (American living here) has just sold his mustang - after 2 weeks of ownership. He described it as a slightly faster Ford Escort (he wasn't complimentary), so he's back to a Dodge Ram again. To be fair, the Mustang convertible (4.6 V8) was in very good nick and he sold it immediately he plac...

RIP Roy, I'll miss your words of wisdom and great banter. Your sense of fun was much appreciated and you'll be sorely missed on the forums. My thoughts are with your family and may they take comfort that you were held in such high regard by all.

Re: Front screen glass spec

I've only fitted toughened glass to split screens as the laminated glass doesn't take kindly to being forced and prodded in order to fit. Replacement glass was 6mm thick as opposed to 5mm original though, so was an even tighter fit :D

Re: New MOT Rules?

Consensus on most responses I've seen is that the historic vehicle owner does not wish MOT exemptions for any vehicle, and that this consultation is not needed or indeed wanted. Just typical EU and our government meddling (again) when there are bigger problems facing the country. Neither did folk as...
