Re: windscreen insert
I watched a professional fit a new screen to my '57 convertible and he assembled the rubber, the stainless trim, and the glass together completely before fitting the whole assembly to the car! I don't know if the same would apply to a replacement rubber.

Morrisman1, if you drive your Minor like that then you have been lucky,
so far. The reason that we suffer breakages nowadays is because the
half shafts are rather old i would think!

Perhaps your door is wrongly adjusted so that when closing it all the impact is on this section. I have never had a cracking problem in that area on my saloons.

hinge
Tight screw heads can usually be removed with an impact screwdriver set and, if the hinge pins are worn, you can buy oversize pins which require you to run a suitable drill down the hinge sections which will restore them to 'as new'. (By the way the hinge pins knock out from the bottom upwards). The...

swing
If you get the 'swing' of the float wrong then it can foul on the internal baffle and prevent the gauge from reading 'full'.

sender
The tank sender unit swings ACROSS the car (wheel to wheel) and the nutted connector, which it should be on your model, should be nearer to the front of the car. i.e. you could have it 180 degrees out if the connector is nearer to the rear of the car. No, your model did not have a voltage regulator.

Those figures include "all Morris cars". In Britain we would not consider an MG to be a Morris but I don't know if that applied at the time in the US.

USA Minors
The majority of the early Minors were exported because,if they were not sold abroad the government could cut off the steel supply to the factory! Most went to Australia but quite a few went to the states (the headlights were raised in height due to the American regulations). The arrival of the VW Be...

Agreed Chicken John.....paint the captive nuts and each bolt as you refit it with Waxoyl. I have just removed a fibreglass wing after 12 years and it undid as though it was fitted yesterday. Paint ALL suitable bolts/nuts
with Waxoyl as you reassemble the car especially the bumper bolts!

Look at the forward face of the centre cross member where the torsion bar passes through. There is an adjustable plate there with a series of holes into which the arm of the torsion bar will fit. Each hole will make a difference of 1/4" in the ride height so, if yours is already in the lowest h...

You must obtain the correct width of front bar for each particular car as they vary by a few inches. The large screws which hold the bar to the sides of the car also have special washers, difficult to describe but worth looking at one on a complete car.

Did you see the programme on the Renault Megane? £54 labour to change the headlamp bulb because it is almost impossible to change it yourself! Top gear doesn't tell you that sort of thing when they test the cars.
