Re: Series II and earlier windscreen surround joining clips

The first of the nearly half production run are going out today which means only 25 or so pairs left. For those who have ordered I have attached stickers showing whether top or bottom as they are 'handed' and we spent a good 5 minutes trying to get a bottom one into the top... (Doh!) There is a smal...

Series II and earlier windscreen surround joining clips

These windscreen surround finishing clips, which have long been unavailable, have been produced by Ray, a retired RAF engineer from donor parts from an earlier Series II. We have tried them on later models on on one later MM and they fit well, albeit that the new rubbers mean they may require minor ...

They don’t sell lemonade in Boots any more. Apparently there were complaints that it leaked out of the lace-holes!

Re: Series MM (Later) Series II Windscreen trim clips.

Off to Charles Ware’s in Bristol today to look at the ongoing work on RER919. Some interesting cars including their fist foray into electric propulsion with a variomatic type motor and modified prop straight to the diff. Andy and Wayne have loaned us a set of Series MM / Series 2 windscreen trim to ...

Re: Series MM (Later) Series II Windscreen trim clips.

We have been thinking about just such a problem. Apparently it was not so much the difficulty of producing the trim that was the problem and indeed one of the biggies apparently did so, but when it came to polishing, they buckled all over the place. Looking at producing a wooden former on which such...

Series MM (Later) Series II Windscreen trim clips.

So, the great day arrived when the pair of trialled chrome plated reproduction windscreen trim clips for later MM / Series II were fitted to the earlier Series II convertible from which the donor clips came. Some cursing and swearing was muttered as we all, repeatedly put the top clip, upside down, ...

Re: Split-screen chrome surround on eBay??

later MM / S II windscreen surround joining clips: We sent a pair of our reproduction later MM/ Series II windscreen clips to Mark Kram in Malta. They were unchromed and from the first batch produced. He had some trouble with the new rubber screen seal but these seem to have been resolved. He has no...

Re: Oil bath air filter

There are usually a few battered ones at auto jumbles whoever they start up again. There is one on the net but £40 seems a lot if you are only after the wing nut stud.

Re: Colour Chart

Those seats are no worse than mine were and I solved the drivers seat problem by getting a similarly knackered seat and getting a trimmer to use the seat back to sitcom in to the seat, Same otter, same patina. I have since done as was suggested above and used woolies leather paint. The transformatio...

Re: Crossply to radials - What size? (1954 4 door splitscreen)

You can still get cross ply 500 / 520-14 I thing Club spares were advertising them in the latest Minor Matters. I changed from 155 to 145 last year and I think they are closer to the crossply in look and feel. Others have different perceptions and experiences. they also fit better in the boot area

Re: Steering column felt bushes

If the felt bushes have shrunk / dried out drizzling a little light oil down into them may help. a) it helps lubrication and b) the felt will expand and stop creaking. Now how to stop the creaking from the column against the parcel shelf - it is a 948 smaller shelf so abuts the column rather than pa...

Re: Split-screen chrome surround on eBay??

I know it has been some time since I first mooted the subject of reproduction of these clips and we have supplied a trial set to two people (unchromed) This seemed to go well albeit that one lower clip was damaged on fitting a particularly difficult surround / rubber in Malta. Ray - Uttlesford's 92 ...

Nope they were open within a frame. You can get a door usually from a left hand drive car or someone who was making them out of glass fibre many moons ago, but both are as rare as hens teeth.

Nuffield Metal Products Plate NMP

As we had used all we made - over 400 and I am still getting requests for the plates from far flung places, we have decided to press some more. Test pressed some aluminium blanks today and the pictures speak for themselves. The mould was showing some strain with mild steel and some of the definition...
