Re: Alfred's First Winter Outside
My 55 two door called Tommy lived outside, including the horrendous winter of 81/82. Still started every time at -20c. Most days it then jump started my Dad's three year old Ford Escort. Weather did no damage - just salty roads.

Re: calling the police
Every time plod sees an illegal scooter they should stop and confiscate. And how come they allow 350w trial scooters when the limit of assistance for bicycles is 250w? A bicycle is far more controllable and for old farts like me who live in rural locations with hills at least 500w would be more use....

Re: Split screen windscreen fitting
I just used two wooden wedges to hold the glass in the rubber, dropped the bottom edge in place from the outside. inserted nylon cord in the rubber and pulled it in. Then twisted the wedges carefully until to central pillar fitted. Still needed sealant to make watertight though but looked spot on.

I've had 7 years out of a 2002 Focus 2 litre. Still under 40K on it, and all for £2500. Bangernomics rules
I do tend to agree about some large SUVs, never encountered an Audi Q7 driver with good road sense or manners, and they always park badly

If the battery is OK I'd suspect an earth leak - they can be a devil to find, easiest way is elimination. On a modern car with multiple fuses its much easier. Sadly Minors generally have just two!

Re: Another dodgy minor on fleabay....
A whole rash of hooky ads for Minors on Fleabay today. The scammer took a break for a while, my guess 3 months in the big house. Exactly the same cars and MO as before. I've been reporting them but ebay should do more to stop these idiots.

Old Speckled Hen also do a decent gluten-free beer, which is a rare thing indeed! Just been told I have Coeliacs - so cruel for a real ale fan, especially one with a taste for stouts and porters. Home brew may be a good solution. For now I'll just risk the odd cheeky normal beer.

Re: get you home bodges
Once managed to drive a Mk1 Cavalier 2 miles home on three cylinders - the unusual bit was that No 3 piston and rod had exited the block! It got scrapped!.
One got home with a rubber band replacing a snapped throttle return spring.

That's probably the most prolific offender, reported to ebay dozens of times. Police should go after him as I have no doubt its linked to organised crime. He often lists cars owned by WRCC

If you right-click on the dodgy email and choose 'examine' you can usually see the senders real email address. What you do with this is up to you!

Talked to the owner, it was actually a more 'oily rag' car close up, very honest and original. There were a number of Minors in attendance on Sunday plus loads of other very nice cars. A good day out.

Re: Morris Minor Specialists
My local old car specialist retired a couple of years back. Always used to enjoy going there as you never knew what would be there at the time. Used to be loads of MGs, occasional Astons and Jags and much other interesting oldies along with the moderns. He was also very reasonably priced
