Re: Trafficators

Greetings, last year you very kindly gave me some advice on re-instating my Semaphores . Wall I've now done it, cleaning out all the old Silastic which was used to seal them in. I'm using a separate switch from the Flashers wand and everything looked ok but for some reason the l/h one won't come up....

Folding A Convertible Hood

Help requested please from Convertible MM owners. I have just purchased ( and had fitted ) a new hood for my car . The old one was extremely tatty and had not, over the years by previous owners, been folded down correctly. To prevent damage to the new hood does anyone have any diagrams of how to fol...

Re: Trafficators

The units are sealed up with what looks like clear bathroom sealant .

Does the wiring usually run under the sills ?? .There is certainly no additional switch to operate them so I assume they were operated by the stalk on the steering column.

Trafficators

My 1957 convertible is fitted with Trafficators but de-activated and sealed, to prevent water ingress, by a previous owner. It is now fitted with Flasher units. I would like to re-instate them and was wondering if anyone had attempted this project. Can I put them back into service and still use the ...

Re: XUO 354

True Andy, I put 781 XUX in the Con Ch site and it does show my car, I put in XUX 781 and it shows a Grey Traveller. I don't think its possible just to put in the Reg and no Make in the GOV.UK database to find ownership. I might try working my way through all the possible Makes to see if I hit the r...

Re: XUO 354

Don't know how but the Congestion Charge information is incorrect. The MOT section of Gov.UK does not recognise the Registration as fitted to a Ford. I put my current registration onto the Con Ch database and it came up with a grey Morris Traveller with an expired MOT. Thanks for the info though.......

Re: XUO 354

Sorry, senior moment set in there................ I looked in the GOV.UK Transport website for the Reg, including the vehicle type and it came up as number not recognised. Can you tell me how to look into the Congestion Charge Listing or is it for specific people only ? I have found out that the Num...

XUO 354

Does anyone now own this Number ? It was originally ( from first registration ) on a 1957 Convertible but removed in 2010 . Info required to complete the cars history. The car is now registered as 781 XUX .[frame]Image[/frame]

Re: Log Book anomaly

Perseverance has finally paid off and the DVLA has agreed that the car was built and first registered in November 1957. Thanks to all the members who came up with various suggestions and idea's to get the correct details on the Registration Certificate. Even the GOV.UK document has been revised. All...

Re: Tonneau Cover Cleaning

I know it sounds a bit dodgy but I've found ( through an ex work colleague ) that EVOSTIK thinners works a treat without damaging the material. He gave me some of his but I don't know where he purchased it. One warning though, you need a mask to use it...........it's very pungent. As Ed China would ...

The control knob wasn't there but the Lub worked a treat. All working as they should do, guess the BB was gummed up. Many thanks.

Tonneau Cover Cleaning

I appreciate this is an old subject and covered in a lot of entries but I was wondering if there are any new cleaners on the market, that someone has used to remove VERY stubborn stains on a Convertible Tonneau cover. So far I have used Vanish OxiAction , Cif, AutoGlym, Cillit Bang and White Spirit ...

Inertia Mechanism on Rear Seat Belts

I have read the ( very ) extensive listing on rear seat belts but was unable to come up with a remedy for my problem. The belts were fitted about 5 years ago by the previous owner but now the inertia mechanism seems to have stopped working. As you pull out the belts they lock and release when pressu...
