Thank you so much ! That will be of great help to me !philipkearney wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 8:27 am I have a tourer that is a rolling shell in primer. If I get a chance, I'll photo the firewall in the daylight and post up some photos. Will try to do the same with my 49 saloon although can't vouch that it will be 100% original.

Hello, I am restoring a 1949 MM saloon. The previous owner has made several additional holes in the firewall to install various non standard components. I want to close off the extra holes. Can someone with a very original car, please show me detailed photos of the firewall showing all the holes ple...

Re: MM and 1000 door and king pin interchangeability ?
As regards the steering swivels - yes you can so long as you fit all the parts from a Morris Minor 1000. See BMC wksp manual section 'K' for details. Thank you. Section K details all the suspension repairs etc but does not talk about upgrading an MM with 1000 swivels. Leaving the shock absorber, to...

Re: Low light - rib in body below rear windscreen
I'd agree with ManyMinors. I have a few 1950 lowlights and they do not have the rear body moulding. Looking through Ray Newell's Original Morris Minor book, he says this was introduced on four door cars from 1950. Presumably two door cars followed soon after, likely early 1951. The car I'm looking ...

Low light - rib in body below rear windscreen
Hello folks,
On the very first MM cars, there was no rib below the rear windscreen yes ?
When was this rib introduced ?
Do we know what body number this rib was introduced at ?

SMM high light short/long bonnet ??
Hi all, I'm looking at a SMM tourer which seems to be an early high light version being from 1951. The Car No. is SMM/ 123855 My question is, should this car have a short bonnet or a long bonnet ? Are there definitive car numbers between which the SMM high light was produced with the short bonnet ? ...

Re: Series MM Questions
The registration book clearly states its a tourer. The only way it can be a cut up saloon, is if the book and car are not matching. Not impossible but unlikely as it's supposed to be a known original car.
Will take photos of the areas suggested plus check the stamped body number if present.

Re: Series MM Questions
Very unclear pics attached for now as that's all I have till Monday.
Even better photos won't help really. It just looks like a low light tourer with fixed side screens. Vin number should be a better indication as to what it should have been originally.

SMM convertible - fixed side screens ??
Hi all, I have an SMM tourer / convertible. The car has low lights which I initially suspected was a modification and thought that the car may have originally come with high lights. However some searching online has brought up RHD 83390 as the chassis number that all cars changed to high lights. My ...

Convertible hood colour ?
HI all, I have a 1969 convertible. One of the very last to be built I think. I want to replace the hood on it. I have read somewhere that all convertibles had red hoods other than for one particular body colour which had some other colour hood. I may be quite mistaken though. My car is currently lig...

VIN location
Hi all,
I have searched online about where the VIN on a 1957 Morris minor should be stamped and found that it should be on the bulkhead close to the starter pull cable.
Was it ever stamped much higher as shown in the attached photo ?

Which turn signal switch should I have ??
Hi all, While having a 1960 Traveller and 1956 Tourer, today I bought a 1969 Tourer. One of the last tourers to be built I guess. VIN: MAT5D-1252318M It was imported by a Britisher when new and used at the British high commission in Sri Lanka (known as Ceylon at that time) It is reputed to be the la...

56 tourer +1275+long gear stick+diff?+speedo?
Hi all, I just bought a 56 series II Tourer. It has the split screen, slated grill and long gear lever. Basically, I want it to LOOK original but like it to accelerate harder. I want to use a 1275 midget engine in it. I can adapt a 948 gearbox or a 1098 or midget 1275 gearbox to use the long gear le...
