Banjo fitting on rear brake

Hi all I'm looking for some advice on a rear brake matter for my 1969 Morris Traveller. Last year we overhauled all the brakes (drum), including the brake lines and fittings. We got new banjo fittings for the rear wheels, including copper washers etc. We discovered last week that the copper washers ...

Removing osmo oil

Hi all I have a 1969 Morris Traveller. I recently sanded and oiled the wood with Osmo Oil, but unfortunately it was the wrong colour. I am now looking to remove it, but am keen to avoiding sanding, as I have already sanded her twice in the last year. A wood specialist recommended Timberex Oil & ...

Vinyl cleaning

Hello all I just wanted to say thank you for all the advice and posts about how to clean vinyl seats. I had a go today. I followed advice and started with Vanish powder in warm water and scrubbing gently. After only 20 minutes I could see a huge difference, and within an hour both seats were transfo...

Rear window - stuck!

Hi all I'm doing some repair and restoration work to my 1969 Morris Traveller. A mix of big and small issues, of which this is probably the smallest (and so the most annoying!). The rear sliding window of the back on the passenger side is completely stuck. All the other sliding windows in the back (...

Re: clutch replacement/clutch kits

Hello everyone Thank you for your help. We managed the clutch change yesterday without taking the engine out. We lifted the floor plate above the gearbox and managed to lift the gearbox up through the hole into the car. We then replaced the clutch. The reason for this update is to let you know that ...

Re: Bonnet Catch Release broken - help!

Hello all

Thanks for your help. After a bit of exploration, we were able to get it undone - we managed to get a coathanger through the front grill and hoooked through one of the holes in the release mechanism. So all resolved, but a useful lesson definitely learnt!

Bonnet Catch Release broken - help!

Hello everyone I am the owner of a 1969 Morris Traveller and have an emergency! The split pin holding the bonnet catch release fell out, so that when I pulled it to open the bonnet, the bonnet wouldn't open - and I just pulled the release straight through! I now can't open the bonnet at all and am i...

Re: clutch replacement/clutch kits

Hi guys That's really helpful thank you! In fact the clutch isn't original (I had to get the original replaced about 10 years ago) so l am open minded about replacing it! If there are any better makes around than B&B I'm open to suggestions! We're also considering the best way to go about it. I'...

clutch replacement/clutch kits

Hi everybody. After long last the traveller is up and running again and the engine is running sweet, but i can't help noticing that the thrust release bearing is a tad on the noisy side, so i wan't to get that done as soon as possible. I don't intend just replacing the bearing itself, but it as a ki...

Re: Removing the kick plates

Hello everyone We finally removed the kick plates today! Hooray! Following the very helpful advice received on here, we had a go this morning. We managed to undo two of the bolts on the passenger side by hand. The first sheered in half (not entirely unexpectedly) and the second came out clean. For t...

Re: Rear bearings

Hi guys Thanks so much for all your help. We did successfully manage to remove the rear wheel hubs yesterday! Thanks to your help and advice, I managed, with the the newly purchased spanner from ebay and a large rubber mallet, to get both bearing nuts off! Then with my friend Russ, who is much more ...

Re: Rear bearings

Hi guys

Thank you - that's really helpful. I will check that the locking tabs are completely clear and then try again. Clearly undoing seized nuts on a Morris is as good as going to the gym!

Thanks again

Re: Rear bearings

Hi all I had a lovely day working in the sun on the car today. Managed to get both half shafts out and then got onto the big nut holding the bearing in place. Each had one locking tab which I flattened out to get the special spanner on - then no joy at all with undoing the nut! I had checked previou...

Re: hand brake attachment to brake shoe lever

Hi Rob

Thank you - that's really helpful. I will blow up the picture and examine carefully. Both of mine seem to be so covered in rust and dirt that it's hard to even see what they look like - so it's good to know what i'm looking for!

Have a good weekend

hand brake attachment to brake shoe lever

Hi all I've got a 1969 Morris Traveller and am overhauling the brakes. I'm doing the back ones at the moment, and would like to strip them down, replace brake shoes etc. I'm just struggling to understand how the handbrake cable is attached to the brake shoe actuating lever. I couldn't find an explan...

Hi guys Thank you for the advice - really useful! I have bought the spanner from ebay and look forward to having a go. Re: Rear bearings

Hi Phil Thanks for your reply. I've got the Manual and am going through the website and t'interweb.
