The a+ has ribbing on the block as part of the casting, the a is plain in comparison, the metro engine, although A series, is used transversly, therefore is unsuitable without a lot of modification at the flywheel end.

You may already have thought of this, but what about a watch/clock repairer, a jewellers for example, you never know.

I believe some people adjust tappets with the engine running, although I have not gone that far, I have checked the clearance that way. It's suprising how you can still feel if the clearance is tight or loose.

Its just not worth the extensive modification to a mini engine when a marina or sprite etc will fit.

Excuse me sort of 'highjacking' this thread, but before the site went down you mentioned a picture in the club mag showing incorrectly fitted brake shoes, I've been trying to find this item for quite a while now, could you please tell me the issue it was in and the page number.

The longer coil runs along the main body of the wheel cylinder, with the shorter coil towards the opening end.

Can any members help with some info? I am rebuilding a couple of SU pumps and on the main body near the bottom flange, one of them has an outlet about 5/16 diameter and 5/16 long shaped to grip a plastic pipe could this be a breather or linked to somewhere?

It's not the filter housing.The item in question protrudes from the steel body at an angle.
