My 1098 usually runs really well , but started to run really badly ,low power and backfiring etc, after looking at the usual bits i found the vacuum unit spring had come off its peg, popped it back on ,off we went, it did the same again yesterday, why has it started to do this ? has a clip pinged of...

Have been trying the higher octane fuel in my 1098 would it cause a backfire ? Havent adjusted the mixture

Hi, noticed my nsr light had stopped working so replaced bulb (double filament) , still not working but brake light does, as it did before, osr works perfectly, its a post 64 rear light set up. Any ideas gratefully received .Thanks

I had the same problem after replacing my head gasket, it ran on 2 or 3,it turned out I hadn't set the valve clearance correctly, set them correctly and boom ticked over lovely until it broke down a week later but that's another story but it wasn't the had gasket

Thanks for that much appreciated, another quick question I've got the orange/red rear lights on my car I'd quite like to put the original lights back on, the ones where the brake light flashes as the indicator, as it has a flasher relay is this a straight swap

Thanks for your advice can it be done from cold as I'm not too keen on starting it as i think the head gasket has gone its running but very very badly

Who can tell me what size fitting I need for a compression tester as it seems all the ones for sale are metric although the Gauge reads in both, it mentions m10 etc etc Thanks for any advice

Compression good, water down in radiator, tappet clearance good, spark seems even, plugs good colour, replaced head with unleaded one torqued it down to 44, recently read torquing to 60 needed because head gaskets not as good

sorted out the slight misfire it was the lt lead gradually breaking down, its ran very well apart from that since I replaced the head gasket ,done about 150 miles but during the last week it has been gradually getting lower and lower on power moving off and uneven idle, sounds a bit like running on ...
