Re: Fuel pump woes

SU was owned by Morris privately until 1935 when it was integrated into Morris Motors.
This was why Morris Motors used the SU pump not a mechanical one.

Re: Replacing wheel cylinders

Hi James. I have just done this job. I feel that you will be lucky to reuse the bridging pipes.Mine snapped on removal from the cylinders. The flexi-hoses were very hard to loosen from the cylinders. A good fitting thick open ended spanner and a tap with a hammer were required (before loosening the ...

Re: Running rich but stuttering (and stinks!)

“Backing off” the adjuster nut ?
Do you mean lowering the jet?
If you do this is richening the mixture making things worse.

Re: Budget

It is not unusual to see cars advertised for sale for half the money spent on “ restoration “.
No one knows how good the “restoration” is either.
Buy the best you can afford and have it checked out by someone who knows these cars before parting
with your cash.

Better get used to them.
Soon we will have to use them while the rich and MPs will still have cars.

Re: Blockley tyres

I bought a set of Blockley tyres for my 1933 Austin 7 and find them very good.
They are cross plies with a realistic period tread pattern.
If the 145 radials are of the same quality they should be excellent.

Re: Quality tools

I fully agree with this. I still use some tools I bought to fettle my BSA bantam in 1956.
Many more are now in use as I have needed them over the years of bikes and cars.
I must admit to having the odd cheap thing I used for a “ one off job”.

Re: Hmmm? Which one to go for?

Yes.
Long ago I knew a chap who owned two green Minors.
One set of number plates and a transferable bulkhead plate and bobs your uncle as you say.
Handy when one car needed repair. I wonder if in the end he knew one car from the other.

Re: Noisy engine & lack of power at speed

I would do a compression test ( or get a garage to do one) .
I have known a failing cylinder head gasket give rather similar symptoms and this will give a “noisy” engine.
This was on another car with an A series engine.
Hope you get it sorted as it can be dispiriting to have these problems.

Not a Lowlight then.
Perhaps the previous car is similar?
