Re: Weller Wheels - new tooling - more wide wheels on the way?!

They look pretty bob on to me - nice that they have a bit of dish too (as the kids on the street say!).

I think that's a pretty reasonable price really - better if about £65, but I think I'll definitely be getting some when my Minor EVENTUALLY is ready to have wheels put back on it!!

Re: How were body shells painted in the factory?

Thanks for that link twincamman... the experience of that chap has confirmed pretty much everything else I've read about SPL. Avoid like the plague!!! Thanks also John and Martin, seems like SPL really are a bunch of cowboys! I'm going to have a chat to Paint Strip ( http://www.paint-strip.co.uk/str...

Re: How were body shells painted in the factory?

Thanks for the input guys.

I'm really after knowing how the insides of the chassis rails and A & B pillars etc were painted in the factory though.

I've found a few other places that offer similar services to S.P., so am going to check prices with them.

Cheers

How were body shells painted in the factory?

Hi, Does anyone know how Morris body shells were treated after being fabricated? Were they dipped in a bath or something before painting? The reason I ask is that I am looking at getting my shell acid dipped by Surface Processing ( http://surfaceprocessing.co.uk/for-cars.html ), the dipping process ...

Re: Weller Wheels - new tooling - more wide wheels on the way?!

Yes, good point Chris, I hadn't looked at it that way. I've had 5 1/2J wheels for years now so haven't had to source 145s.

Re: Weller Wheels - new tooling - more wide wheels on the way?!

Just had a reply from Graham with further info :) Good news for the banded steel crew :) Hi George Thanks for the quick reply. We are currently trialling the forming of a centre without vent holes for another project, so if this is successful then I will add this as a variant. (The vent holes are be...

Re: Weller Wheels - new tooling - more wide wheels on the way?!

Very exciting news! Graham from Weller Wheels has just emailed me some computer models of the wheels they have planned for production. They are 5 1/2J x 14" but he is looking for feedback as to size, style, vent holes etc before going into production so let me know what you reckon! Below is his...

Re: Custom register SHOW N GO JUN 88

Yes indeed, I am the new owner of them :D They are safely stowed and awaiting scanning... I'm going mental in the process of starting a business, so when I finally get round to focusing on Minors again I will get them digitised and let people know :)

ARP con rod bolts

Hi there, I'm soon going to be buying all the bits for my 1275 engine rebuild. I'm getting everything as top spec as possible as I want it to indestructible! Vizard recommends the use of ARP bolts throughout an engine build, but I have looked at the prices and they are SUPER expensive! http://www.mi...

Re: SW5/Minispares equivalent, pros & cons?

Sorry to potentially hijack this thread but Longdog hinted at the MG Metro cam and reminded me of a question I have about it. I am building a 1275 Ital engine, with big valve, ported 940 head, HIF44, LCB etc - I have a MG Metro cam at the moment, but am looking to build a torquey engine as accelerat...

Re: Weller Wheels - new tooling - more wide wheels on the way?!

Yeah man, they would look so good... I'd like a set of these, but maybe get them chromed...
I'm not sure whether they're planning standard Minor centres or normal Weller style centres, either way I want some![frame]Image[/frame]

Re: Weller Wheels - new tooling - more wide wheels on the way?!

For anyone interested; I sent Weller a message today to see if any progress has been made on these and the reply I got was as follows:

We have got as far as making 14 inch wheels for another project. We have yet to sort out the centre for the Minor. Not long now I hope.

So fingers crossed! :D

Re: Modded or standard

Just noticed the Beetle in the background of that picture, check the paint job! Awesome! David, amongst my old hot rod mags I have an article all about chopping the Morris roof, I'll dig it out and scan it if it would be of interest... doesn't overcome the need to be an excellent welder or the fact ...

If I can get my build finished by then I will be there for the weekend I expect, haven't been to one before, but it is a bare shell at the moment so that may not happen! Will hope to pop up for a day either way

Re: Modded or standard

Yeah, I saw that on eBay a while ago, a pretty impressive machine! The roof chop is a little drastic in my opinion, though a roof chop is a great addition to a minor :)

Re: Custom Register News Letters Looking For Good Home

Hi all, To anyone that is interested: John has kindly sent these down to me. When I receive them I will start scanning them all and will them upload them as PDFs to my web host and post a link so that they can be downloaded. Might take a while as I'm super busy trying to start up a printing business...

Re: 12G295 Vs 12G940 Head

I flogged my 295 head for just shy of 150 on eBay, so defo fit the 940 and use the proceeds of the 295 to fund carb, inlet and exhaust upgrades :)
