Re: Heard a Sound from Engine may be

Is it all the time or just when you go up a hill?

Re: maniflow exhausts

Have you noticed any difference between the two manifolds?

Re: maniflow exhausts

I already have a stainless exhaust, yesterday I spent 30 minutes in the shed with a hacksaw to cut the inlet part of the standard cast manifold off. HIF38 fitted straight on with a manifold from minimine (ebay). Dead easy.

Re: Head compatability

I looked at sinking my 12G940 head exhaust valves myself but decided that by the time I had obtained a large 45 deg countersink I could get a machine shop to do it. I took it to a company in Stoke who sunk the exhaust valves and then lapped all the valves in for £60 ish.

Re: How to weld Aluminum

You can also silver solder it, I think that we used to use Borax flux?

Re: How to weld Aluminum

When oxy-fuel gas welding aluminum, the problem is that the alloy oxide melts at a far higher temperature than the aluminum. You are far better off TIG welding it. You do need an a/c TIG set, the alternating HF arc ionizes the oxide and removes it.

Re: cover

Mine is a Stormforce all weather 4 ply. It folds down into its own carry bag. I have used it since March this year and the car always stays dry. I usually uncover the car for a few hours every week, but then I like to take it on a run regularly. The cover still looks like new. My neighbour who owns ...

Re: Coolant bypass hose

The thread is already there, it has a factory fitted, slot headed blanking stud in it. I once removed one in the late 70's from a mini head but had to weld a bolt to it first. It then just unscrewed. This one has been in a mite longer so I may end up spark eroding it. I could fit a sandwich plate bu...

Re: Coolant bypass hose

I fitted a 940 head in the summer which has a bypass plug fitted into the head, so I plugged the pump bypass and drilled a couple of holes into the thermostat. This has been fine all summer as the thermostat opens shortly after starting but I am now finding that the heater fails to get properly hot ...

Re: Morris 1000 heater

What about using the old style tap to give the 90 deg bend connected with a short piece of hose to one of biomed32uk in line tap operated with the pull cord? Just leave the old tap open.
