Lock-on grease coupler - any good?
This popped up on my Facebook page. It looks good but I wondered if anyone had used one and could say whether it works and what the quality is like? https://www.fanshome.co.uk/products/strong-lock-on-grease-couplers?utm_source=fb&utm_medium=23852121930390656&utm_campaign=asc%E5%B9%BF%E5%91%8...

Can you still get cellulose paint?
Does anyone know if it's still possible to buy cellulose paint (not aerosol) for home spraying? The motor factors I bought the last lot from says they can't get it, so I've had to use spraycans of basecoat and clear - which I'm not impressed by (to put it mildly!). I'd be looking for half a litre of...

Re: 'Smart' motorways
A definite 'yes' vote from me. I recently wrote to my MP presenting a number of strong arguments against so-called smart motorways, and received the expected bland reply from the Secretary of State for Transport. However, my letter at least registered my dissent, so I would encourage others to do li...

Parking for Goodwood Breakfast club classic car meet
Is there anyone who's attended the Goodwood Breakfast club classic car meet and who could tell me what the situation is for parking? I'd been told classic cars park inside the track area, but I heard from someone else that the innner track area is only for cars chosen for display. Or perhaps there's...

Pennine oil - quality rating?
Does anyone know the rating for Pennine Heritage Classic 20W/50? I want to see if it's comparable to the oil I'm using at the moment, which is marked: 'SL/CH-4' and '1300 zinc as ZDDP'. I did email Pennine's customer service department but didn't get the courtesy of a response - not a good way to wi...

Re: Lucas 23D to 25D dizzy upgrade – worth it? Best brand?
Thanks Stephen, that sounds like good advice - I suppose that, like most things, you get what you pay for. Given the cost of rebuilding a genuine dizzy, it does cast some doubt on the benefits of swapping my already-reconditioned unit for one with vacuum advance. I have to say that, until I read abo...

Lucas 23D to 25D dizzy upgrade – worth it? Best brand?
I’m considering replacing the (rebuilt) Lucas 23D dizzy on my early ex-Marina engine with a Lucas 25D with vacuum advance, which I understand gives better fuel economy and driveability. Could anyone suggest whether it’s a worthwhile swap – will I see a big difference in fuel consumption and driveabi...

I want to see clearly now
Does anyone know if it’s possible to buy wiper blade refills for the Morris? I checked out ESM, which seems to sell only the complete chrome blade holder (rather than just the blade), which are rather expensive and unnecessary given mine are in good condition. Alternatively, could anyone recommend d...

Re: Can torsion bar trimming affect camber and cause tyre wear?
Hi Phil No, I don't recall any listings for a modified eye-bolt in the CS Autoclassics parts list. However, they adjusted the camber using shims fitted behind the original eye-bolts during final adjustments carried out at nearby suspension geometry specialist. I don't recall the exact amount of neg ...

Re: Can torsion bar trimming affect camber and cause tyre wear?
Hi Phil The CS Autoclassics system for camber adjustment works on the same principle as that of Minor Mania, and works in conjunction with telescopic dampers. It's been fitted to the car since the mid-90s and I've covered some 55,000 miles without any problems - until I adjusted the ride height (alb...

Can torsion bar trimming affect camber and cause tyre wear?
Could anyone advise whether trimming the torsion bars can compromise the camber? I raised the ride height on the left side of my car by half an inch to compensate for settling over the years, and replaced the bushes on both sides at the same time. I had the tracking checked afterwards to ensure ever...

Re: How does your visor fit?!
Thanks Boomlander
Sounds like a good idea - but how tough are the pads? Do the clamps penetrate them?
And is it possible to remove the pads if you need to adjust the position of the visor?

How does your visor fit?!
Do those of you with exterior sun visors fitted to their cars use anything to protect the paint around the rain gutter? I’ve tried using thin rubber strips under the visor brackets but found this reduces the gap between the outside of the bracket and the door frame, so I’m worried movement may gouge...

Re: Paraffin gun for Waxoyl? Draper kit any good?
Thanks Phil - yes, I usuall thin Waxoyl with white spirit as well as heating it, but was worried the paraffin gun might clog!
Think I'll give the Draper kit a go.

Paraffin gun for Waxoyl? Draper kit any good?
Has anyone used a paraffin gun to apply Waxoyl and, if so, how successful was it? I'm looking at Toolstation's kit of tools for an air compressor and wondering how useful the various bits are. I really only need a hose, tyre inflator and blowgun at the moment but it works out cheaper to buy a comple...

Replacement coils – trusted brand, ballast or non-ballast?
What is your experience of replacement ignition coils? I need to replace the coil on my electronic ignition-equipped, negative-earth 1275 with a Lucas DLB105 equivalent. However, in age when many of the once-trusted brands are no longer what they were, I wondered if anyone had experience of these al...
