Re: Trafficators in use

The rear windscreen is small enough without blocking it with stickers
You can wire the trafficators and indicators to work off one switch, there is a wiring diagram available.
The trafficator bulbs can be replaced with flashing led bulbs

Re: They Just Can't Wait....

Roads that used to be de restricted have been reduced to 50mph and then 40mph. Every house has its own 30mph speed limit. Soon they will be bringing back the red flag

Re: Wiper sweep - clap hands

The clap hands wipers can be improved by fitting adjustable length arms and 12 inch blades. Adjust the arms so that the blades almost touch the top of the screen then move the arms on the spindles so that they are staggered and do not touch. This will reduce the unswept V in the centre of the screen

Re: Rear brakes - poor performance.

The rear shoes set as supplied should have two shoes with circular cut outs which fit over the snail adjusters and two shoes without which fit on the top of the wheel cylinder. The front shoes should have a cut out on all four shoes. Check that the wheel cylinder is free to slide in the slot on the ...

Re: Registation of 1948 - Are you agree ?

There are a few 1948 Series MMs still existing, 501, 507, 584 plus a couple more in UK, and several in Australia. Claims are often made for 1948 cars but these usually turn out to be 1949 cars. As the chassis numbers were issued in batches starting at 501 for 2 door cars, 5001 for CKD cars and 5501 ...

Re: distributor cap

The Series MM engine uses a DYHK4A distributor which has a different cap. These should be available for top entry or side entry HT leads from MMOC Club Spares. The later 25D distributor will fit without vacuum advance

If you take the propshaft to a specialist they can fit a new end and re balance it. Or it may be cheaper to aquire a 2nd hand propshaft

Re: Glove box catch

Another example of cost cutting. The Series MM had a proper push button locking catch. If the glove box lid hit the passenger's knee it was their own fault for being nosey and pushing the release catch!

Instrument Panel

In reply to a recent PM, the instruments are mounted on a modified Series MM right hand instrument panel with the square holes changed to round to fit a combined oil pressure / water temp gauge and a voltmeter. The rev counter is a standard Smiths 1960s unit. Make sure that you get the correct +/- u...

Re: Wiring diagram 1958 traveller

If you lay the new loom out on the floor you should be able to identify the terminals. The colours should not change between models so it becomes a matter of elimination. If the original loom is plastic coated then you can strip it down for spare wires. If it is a mass of black wires then you may as...
