Re: Introduction - and a question

Here's something to try. Go on Car and classic and for each make put 'van' in as a keyword and see what comes up. While Minor vans are fashionable and so pricy, other classic vans may not be. Lt us all know if you find something.

Re: The awful joke thread

You know those times when you wish you had thought of something witty to say a moment ago but missed the moment? The opposite happened to me the other day. The perfect opportunity and timing. I was recollecting a Tommy Cooper joke ( I think it was him) and a few hours later a friend of my wife’s pop...

Re: E10 petrol and valve settings

If you have a look on youtube you can see how to easily remove the ethanol from fuel -if it’s presence is a problem. And also that the fuel additives don’t seem to help the corrosive effect of ethanol.

As the locks wear they allow more key shapes and sizes to work so your original will always work - as will a screwdriver probably.

The original Fiat 500s and Fiat 126's ran in line twos - albeit air-cooled.

Re: 3D printed suspension parts

This is what it could look like. I drew it in two halves as it is easier to print. I have to find the correct glue for TPE. The pins are only to centre the two halves for gluing. They alone would not withstand the pressure of a grease gun. Maybe cable ties would be another option. I should have it ...

Re: 3D printed suspension parts

Just in case anyone is reading this and thinking that 3d printing (still) costs thousands and thousands and only happens in specialist labs, you can get something that does this for less than £200. It's not a complicated scientific instrument, more like something knocked up in Meccano. With the hobb...

Re: Electric Cars

Most older diesels would run vegetable oil of some sort. The Mercedes with separate fuel pumps work really well, Peugeot engines with Bosch fuel pumps worked but Lucas pumps failed. Not a solution to petrol alternatives but something. Actually, perhaps an LPG conversion would be the answer. While LP...

This is really sad news. My stolen Minor had a Guy Croft built Lancia T/C engine.

He really knew his stuff.

Perhaps a piece of tube with a curve filed into the end to match that of the brass nut which is then turned the other way. The tube fitted between the brass nut and the fitting to take up the cable slack

Re: Fancy something a bit different?

I'm not going to go over the pros and cons already mentioned - one thing I would point out, if anyone is thinking of buying a s/h Nissan Leaf (perhaps others). Most were sold with a battery on lease and if you buy the car,you also become responsible for the battery lease which I think costs £40 or£5...

As above - just leave it for a few weeks or until you feel enthusiastic about going back. I've been welding on and off for years on my project but broke it up with some more interesting things like re-covering and re-fitting my dashboard (not a Minor) . In theory I've just got two bits of metal to w...

It looks like the dealer has taken shortcuts and that's coming back to bite him as it should. Unless Jeff made a formal agreement to accept a car with an unknown or ambiguous number-plate it's on the dealer to put right - if the DVLA says there's something amiss. Ie if the DVLA says they can't tell ...

Re: Old school Ford V4s

That would have been the heavy Essex V4. I remember someone having a V4 capri when they were worthless and they would pull one plug lead off and the whole car would shake. I think that drove/was pushed into the scrapyard for £20 (1980s) Anyone ever fit the Cologne /Taunus V4? Perhaps that wasn't in ...
