Re: What do you think of my bottom - '71 Traveller not Pippa M

Sell it as is SOLD AS SEEN No warranty or gaurentee given Let the buyer sort it out Stick 12 months MOT on it and watch it fly It's current MOT doesn't expire until October. I think in its current condition - worth maybe £2,500. I got a quote to do the following * chassis rails (both sides boot flo...

Re: What do you think of my bottom - '71 Traveller not Pippa M

I don't understand what's going on in the second picture ? Looks like the rear frame is completely detached ?? The rest is hard to judge because of the massive amounts of underseal that have been applied - some very recently by the look of them ?? But some sills etc look very 'fragile' - and the ch...

What do you think of my bottom - '71 Traveller not Pippa M

I'm considering selling my 71 Traveller and I've had alook at the underside and I'm not sure itf it could do with some work. It is not a mint condition car - average I would say. The areas that I am not sure about are 1. crossmember - drivers side looks shabby - replace whole crossmember ? 2. Sill -...

New Battery - Any Suggestions as to Model/Spec

My old battery in my '71traveller has died a death from old age. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what make/model of battery I should get because there seem to be so many variations - startup power in Amps, sealed maintenance free, calcium etc etc. Prices vary from £40 to well over £120. I ha...

GS Jones have sent me a free small sample and it is indeed Cherokee Red and the price is a lot better than Newton Commercial. Happy days.

New Wiring Loom

I am thinking of getting a new wiring loom for my '71 Traveller and I was wondering if they are all the same spec or if any suppliers are recommended. I have seen both braided and PVC versions. Bull Motif seem to do one for my moggy - part no TMS112CALT. I also have a supplier locally that does clas...

I've been a bit busy with the the kids etc etc for the last few days so I haven't had chance to play around. I got auto spark guy to have a look and he found the problem very quickly. There was no power going to the inidicator even though I had done the connectors correctly. The wiring connector beh...

Left front indicator nor working '71 Trav

I recently noticed that my front left hand side indicator was not working on my 1971 Traveller. The side light in however was working fine and the rear left inidcator was also ok. I fitted a new bulb and it still wasn't working. The holder unit is original but I had recently picked up a new unit as ...

Derbyshire - Recommended Mechanic/Garage

Can anybody recommend a good mechanic/garage to be trusted to work on a moggy in Derbyshire (Belper to be exact). I need some work doing which is beyond my basic skills.

I was looking on minormania and I did find the fuel starvation problem which sounded remarkably similar to mine. The pump is a new SU electronic one, about a year old. The fuel pipe from the pump to the carb is not the braided type - it might be worth changing it for a new braided one and also put i...

Is it my Distributor

My 71 Traveller started to play up on Sunday after going for a run out. I was going along in 3rd when it 'spluttered' for a barely 1-2 seonds. Changed gear, and it was fine, went up a large hill no problem. Anyway, a few miles later got into some slow traffic and she spluttered again. This time evei...

Brakedown - Carb problems ?

I had the pleasure of breaking down on a dual carriageway but luckily for me I stopped directly behind a 3 car crash which was being attended to by a police car so I was protected from the worst of the traffic. I was going along quite happily in the very heavy traffic (idle speed when in neutral was...

Traveller Reversing and Fog Lights

I am thinking about putting a reversing and or fog light on my traveller. Can anybody recommend a suitable product and supplier. Is it an easy job or best left for an auto electrician.

Cheers

It seems that the fan might have been fouled by the radiator which seems too far back thus touching the fan. I ordered a new radiator plus top and bottom hoses while I am it.
